Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. I think the bed was more comfortable than mine at home.

Um, It's it the middle of a remodel and until that's finished, DO NOT go there. Nice staff, mostly, but the property is not pleaseant in this condition.

Renovation of this hotel seems to be challenging for all, the staff and service are wonderful but the room had a lot of bugs, not very clean and we had to leave. Even my dog loved moving to a different hotel if that says anything. Hopefully the renovations will be completed

My partner and I smoke but never indoors, we kept to the outdoor smoking area and then would come inside after and laid on the bed, we never sat on the couch or chair. After we left we were charged $250 because they claimed we smoked in the room. I immediately called the number I was given and disputed this and heard nothing back from the hotel. When I called back 5 days later I was told that the manager confirmed there was an odor and they couldn’t rent the room out. The ONLY place there could be an odor was on the bedding because as I said we are smokers and laid in the bed after coming inside from smoking. So essentially we paid $250 for the housekeeper to change the bedding. Our AC unit did not work, it’d turn off randomly and none of the buttons worked, which I reported to the front desk as soon as we arrived. If someone had smoked in that room the whole floor would have reeked. The rules don’t say anywhere that smokers can’t stay at the hotel or that they will be charged more for staying. It says to not smoke in the room which we did not do and there’s video proving we went out of our way not to do, but we were charged for it anyway. Honestly I would have probably recommended this hotel before this but the lack of response from the management on the issue and this charge is just too much. We have never had this issue when traveling before. My partner and I saved to take a anniversary trip and overall had a great time in Grand Rapids, but this definitely has put a bad taste in our mouth for what was supposed to be a very special weekend.

I've been traveling with my job for over 20 years. I've stayed at this location during this time and have watched it go downhill. I stayed there last night for the last time! I'm done! Their breakfast has gone from so-so to terrible. No to-go breakfast bags like at other locations. Limited selections and shortened the breakfast hours last year. When I've questioned the changes I have been lied to. This time I was charged an extra $50 (pet fee). I didn't bring a pet! I called to have it refunded. I ended up speaking to the manager, Jennifer Poole who agreed to the refund. I asked for my receipt to be refunded and a new receipt be issued. She wouldn't do it. Sent me an another receipt that will be unacceptable to attach to my business expense report. She was rude and then hung up on me. Hung. Up. On. Me. I was stunned and called back. When I asked why she hung up on me she said I hung up on her. What!? I stay at several different Hampton Inns, but after 20 years won't be staying at this one again. This location has lost my business forever.

We had an overnight stay. It was a nice and well-appointed room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There was a nice breakfast bar in the morning. Recommended.

Lack of handicap accessible items in our room made it unsafe for my father in law. He struggled with many things as we could not get proper accommodations for him.Rooms: Room was fine, but not what we needed or asked for.Safety: Our room was not safe for a man with some handicap needs.

This hotel is kind of a mess because it is currently under renovation - definitely dated and worse for wear but they are working on it. The highlight of the experience is the front desk representative, Amber. She’s bright, helpful and committed to delivering quality customer service. I liked her so well that I offered her a job when I was checking out. Whatever the manager is paying, Amber deserves a raise. Keep this girl happy because she is keeping your business going!

We had the absolute best service with Amber at the front desk. She went above and beyond our expectations to take care of our confusing reservation situation. She was very sweet and worked hard to help us.All of the hotel staff were very pleasant.

Obviously reading all the comments is the First thing I do. There are a lot of negative comments on here. We got here Friday afternoon and are leaving Sunday. They won't let you check in early so that wasn't fun with my older Mom and dog. However they were sold out the night before. If you have a pet you must stay on the first floor. I was upset at first because I like being up higher but then said hey no elevator. Overall the room was clean, the front desk staff cared and asked how we were doing. This place is going through a renovation but it's still clean and well kept up. Free breakfast every morning. Pool here . Fitness center. Great location by shopping centers and restaurants and gas stations. Hotel is right off I96. Overall a great hotel. Most importantly quiet at night to sleep.

Hotel’s appearance is reasonable during remodel. Poor star rating due to lack of thought with layout. The breakfast area is not even as wide as a hallway in a trailer. Add the fact that everyone thinks they are going to run out of food at 8am on a Friday, and those of us that are extremely claustrophobic don’t get to eat. Then when you are upset and sick, the family’s whole morning is ruined feeling bad for you. After paying for a hotel with breakfast, I guess we also get to pay for breakfast as well. Also the guest standing in the very small gully area sneezing while continuing to read their phone was another welcoming factor. This is obviously not the hotels fault about the rude inconsiderate person sneezing, however if they weren’t standing in a closet, the sneeze might have not covered all the food available. The coffee was terrible, but literally taste like every other hotel coffee, so can’t really complain there since all hotels skimp on the complimentary coffee. The kids both said the orange juice was gross and got the apple juice instead. My husband works out of town weekly and has stayed in many, this one being the least accommodating with poor breakfast choices. Egg white frittata, Turkey sausage, then your normal waffle, toast, cereal. The lower star on location is because you go from an extremely well lit area then it just gets dark and their sits the hotel. Guess we could have stayed anywhere and saved because there was nothing that stood out to make this hotel the better choice.
