Just got home from having my daughter's transmission fluid changed on her car. They were great!! They have a clean waiting room and had very reasonable prices, because we had shopped around. Good, honest guys. I would highly recommend them to anyone!! Our son uses them all the time. They also do brake work and a few other things.

I recently received the news that my transmission was failing, I gave them a call along with another shop and asked for a quote on a new transmission. The other place called me back with a quote and nothing else. Brett called me back with a quote from GRTS, but he also took it a step further and asked me why I thought the problem was my transmission. I explained to him that I recently got a diagnostic on my vehicle and a transmission code appeared. He wanted to make sure it really was my transmission before I spent money on the wrong solution. I swung by the shop a few days later and he did confirm it was indeed the transmission. Once I gave him the greenlight on ordering the part, I dropped it off thursday morning and got it back friday morning. Unbelievably fast! I was so shocked that they fixed my car and returned it to me in such a short amount of time. Brett was determined to return my vehicle to me before the weekend and that is exactly what happened. The guys at GRTS did an incredible job in such a timely manner at that! Brett was very friendly and helpful! I called them with absolutely no car knowledge and he answered all my questions, and was extremely helpful. The guys here are reliable, and trustworthy and I highly recommend them!

The folks at Grand Rapids Transmission were wonderful my 2006 Jeep Commander needed a new power train control module along with computer reprogram for this part. I was kept well informed as to timing of the part coming in. When the part arrived I had my jeep back in 24 hours. These are dedicated and respected mechanics. The cost was very fair they test drove my jeep when it was all done and I'm happy to say it's back on the road. Folks if you need any work done give them a call they really know what they are doing. Ladies they took special care to listen to what I explained was happening to my jeep they had it diagnosed in no time. I would use this fine personal establishment again.

Transmission in my car went out. Needed a full rebuild. They got to it and got it back within reasonable timing and pricing. Less than a year later having problems again took it to them honored the warranty and fixed it. Turns out it didn’t fix it. Still having problems. Took it back again and they found a small seal causing problems and they took care of it and replaced a few new parts with it just in case. haven’t had any issues since. Honest employees with great Communication and understanding of the frustration with dealing with car problems. And honored their warranty. Highly recommend this shop!

Went out to my car one day to find it shifting funny and lightings blinking that weren’t before. I have an older CRV with high mileage so I thought, well…..this was the end! I was expecting to have to replace the whole transmission.Well, to my surprise, the folks at GR transmission found out it was actually rodent damage! They were quick, knowledgeable, and most importantly, honest. I would have no idea if it was rodent damage or the transmission going out, and I am so thankful they kept it real with me. My car has been running excellent ever since!

Ryan Popma, of Grand Rapids Transmission get's an A+ from me!!! He repaired my 2020 Dodge Ram in one and a half days after it had been to three other facilities that couldn't get it fixed!!! Grand Rapids Transmission will be my stop from now on!!!

My experience was exceptional! Having very bad experiences with both dealerships and repair shops, I am a high skeptic. The owner and mechanics are extremely professional, honest, and knowledgeable. I look for my vehicle to be extremely reliable, and I want to keep it for a very long time. I feel by having all of these repairs done here, I am good to go for a very long time. My transmission went out unexpectedly and I had no idea what to do.. These guys treated me so well and were patient with me until I figured out what to do. They did a total rebuild and it only took them 4 days!! My car drives great and it came with a warranty! I will definitely recommend to everyone in the future! Very honest and trustworthy people!

GR Transmission came referred from a local repair place. I towed my son's 2015 Ford Focus, which had less than 80,000 miles, due to transmission shifting issues. The shock came when they diagnosed it as needing a new transmission and quoted an exorbitant $8,300 for parts and labor! To put this in perspective, the car's value was approximately $10,000.They claimed a new transmission was on backorder for a month and suggested another overpriced option: a used transmission for $6,300 parts and labor. When we questioned this price, they brought up the cost of a new car, as if that somehow justified their quote.Then they wanted a quick decision regarding the used transmission. I wasn't willing to make such a rushed decision on a repair costing over $6,000. This is a standard Ford Focus, not a high-performance race car.My son contacted West Michigan Transmission for a second quote, who took the VIN over the phone and advised us to check with Ford for a possible recall. It turns out the issue was a Transmission Control Module (TCM), NOT a complete transmission replacement and it was covered entirely under a recall.I understand businesses need to make a profit, but this level of overcharging/misdiagnosis is unacceptable.I'm writing this review not out of spite but to emphasize the importance of seeking second opinions.Update: I understand you have to set your prices to make a profitbut it did not need a transmission it only needed a Transmission Control Module. Ford was $800 parts and labor not $8,300. Would you be willing to refund your diagnosis fee due to the misunderstanding (Repair order 001158)?Service: Transmission
