I moved to the downtown area around three years ago and Argos caught my eye because my property company was right across the street and may I say what a gem the store is. I've been going there regularly for an entire year now because I enjoy the weekly comics they restock every Wednesday and there's also paper back, manga, figures, and all sorts of neat gems you can find on the shelves of Argos. The prices are amazing I've gotten great deals for old comic hauls and omnibus comic books I definitely recommend checking them out if you are an avid reader. The staff are also S tier I always feel welcome at Argos it's a highlight of my week every Wednesday It is a joy to hear the bell of the red door, I insist you come to Argos especially if you ever find yourself walking with friends in the East town area, Truly a hidden gem of GR.

Great selection of comic books as well as books. Even better than their selection of books is their service. This husband and wife duo make you feel like family. If your looking for books Argos should be at the top of your list.

Was here over the summer for a few days and can't say enough good things about this place. The owners are fantastic. I asked a lot of questions and they answered all of them and they seemed truly interested in comics. Walked out with some treasures too!

I tell you with confidence that this is the best bookstore in Grand Rapids. Fantastic comic selection as well!Quietly it boasts a worn, antique charm absent with newer, more sterile and trend-conscious imitations. Each time I step beyond its threshold I can't help but feel that I have entered into one of the fabled shops told of in one of the very books nestled somnolently on its brimming shelves. The delicious aroma of well-loved pages hits you as soon as you walk through the door and the collection sprawls from floor-to-ceiling through the cozy space. In the space of an hour or so I am always, somehow, able to locate titles and authors I've been searching after for years. The new owners have done a fantastic job of keeping things tidy and organized. They are also very friendly and knowledgeable folks.Yes, this is the best bookstore in Grand Rapids. If you fail to find something that interests or surprises you here, it is because you have allowed yourself to become a dull and uninteresting person. Your eyes and your heart have crusted over.Support local!Let Argos books live forever.

The owner is SO helpful to everyone who walks in the door. She was so gentle and kind and very welcoming to absolutely everyone that walked through! It was my first time in this book store, and I had been meaning to go for awhile. Highly recommend. It’s warm and cozy and very interesting! You’ll be occupied for an hour at least!

This is a great used book shop with comics and graphic novels! It is locally owned and the people that work there were so helpful! Great selection of sci-fi and fantasy. Pro tip: go there with some authors in mind. I will definitely be coming back to do a deeper dive into the comics and graphic novels!

Argos is definitely one of my favorite book stores in Grand Rapids and probably the best used store. They have a ton of offerings, usually have popular or new release titles, and do a great job organizing their stock. There are two rooms to the store but it is larger than it seems. Prices are good and the staff is super friendly!

If you're a book person you've got to check this place out. The amount and variety of books is stunning. There's also a great amount of comics and graphic novels with all of the weekly new releases. Tons of Star Wars ephemera. And they buy used books and comics! Great store run by great and friendly people.

It's an all around great store with a kind and super knowledgeable and welcoming staff. If you let them know what you're into they'll find something for you. I just recently got into comics in the last year or so and was a bit concerned that there would be a gatekeeping mentality since I knew so little about things but they were very welcoming and were able to find me some stuff that I really liked right away. Now I shop here regularly and every time, it's the same knowledgeable and friendly staff to greet me and come up with more recommendations. If you haven't been here since the new owners have taken over, you should come and check it out for sure. If you're a NEWB like me, definitely a great store to go to!

I have been visiting Argos for used books since I first discovered it more than 20 years ago. Although I enjoyed browsing the collection from time to time, it was not a destination; I visited whenever I could fit it in on a trip to Eastown because it was in a wonderful old building and had a certain charm. Now that Argos is under new ownership, it has become a destination in its own right.Argos always catered to collectors of comic books, graphic novels, and manga, which are not in my area of interest. My children, however, assure me that the store has a nice collection of these items. Indeed, they like Argos (almost) as much as the Vault of Midnight. My children enjoy browsing the young adult section too. It seems that both sections have improved. The store also has a collection of new and used role playing materials for gamers. For me, an important thing is that the new owners have dramatically improved the book-browsing experience. The aisles have been cleared of clutter and the titles are far better organized. The whole collection has a more curated feel. It also includes more recent releases in addition to older titles.Although I have observed improvements to Argos with every visit, what impresses me most is the customer service. The new owners are incredibly friendly, have a strong working knowledge of their collection, and have directed me to items of interest on every visit. They have even brought new acquisitions to my attention on subsequent visits. That kind of personal service is rare. Although Argos has competitive pricing, even when I might be able to save a little by purchasing an item online, I think it well worth a modest premium to support such fantastic service. For me, Argos is no longer an afterthought on visits to Eastown—it is a regular stop on my circuit of favorite bookstores.

Amazing family owned store. I’ve reached out to them multiple times looking for rare comic books. Each time they have come through and been amazing about accommodating my needs.I brought my wife and son in and they treated them like gold, smiles and kindness beyond anything I’ve experienced in other stores.I drive over an hour for them and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else for high end comic collecting and book purchases ever again.Again, thank you for helping find a piece of my fathers past and helping me grieve. Cheers to your family and I can’t wait to call you again.10/10
