I have been a fan of Meijer Stores my entire adult life, and have patronized the Grand Ledge store since it first opened. I never felt any competitor stores could match them, but with the most recent changes I feel they have given up a lot. The wider aisles generally have meant less product choice or no longer carrying some products at all. I have made several evening trips recently with purchases totaling over $300 each time, and have been forced to use a self-checkout because they had no one available to run a register. While the door greeters are nice people , I would far more appreciate having enough cashiers working than having someone saying "hello" or "good bye". I am not ready yet to take all of my business elsewhere, but I get far better checkout service from ALDI and even Wal-Mart, and am starting to spread my purchases more. It is a competitive business and they are just following the trends, but they need to do more to retain us loyal customers. We will vote with our feet.

I was shopping today and I overheard a conversation between two female employees. Both employees were calling another employee stupid and saying he had no common sense. The service here is absolutely horrid and literally no one is ever happy to be working there.

why is meijers not informing the public their employees are testing positive for covid in grand ledge, your employees are posting about it all over local pages! this isn't keeping our families safe, we just shopped here, how dare you keep this quiet.

Terrible employees. Tried to force me to leave a bottle return machine that we were using. Wearing masks, all of us (4 people, husband wife and two kids). Tried to tell us that it's only 1 person per machine. There was NO SIGN saying that my family cannot stand by me! The signs say 1 machine per customer and 1 cart per machine. These bottle return employees then made fun of customers that walked into the store. So because they tried to force me I told them no, the one employee went and got "help" then, my husband stood outside the return room to appease these people and listened to them talk badly about customers. Apparently my kids aren't counted as people towards the "occupancy" nor are they. I watched them just stand there and do nothing while machines broke. Awful employees! Worst Mejier I have been to.
