Definitely a butcher shop and not a convenience store because it is extremely overpriced. Too bad the young man working the cash register can't appreciate how awesome this little town is.

I love the scent when I step inside. It harkens back to a meat market in Detroit when I was a little kid in the 60s. Now I wish Grand Haven had a comparable old world style bakery to match. Great sausages, fudge and stuffed cabbages. My favorite sausage is the smoked kielbasa. I shop with a strict list. My sister and husband go in and buy more than what's on the list. Knowledgeable counter staff. Friendly cashier. There is only one drawback. I wish the butchers would craft hurka, a kind of rice and pork sausage. I had another business custom make it and they put in all the best, lean meats. Real sausage uses heart meats etc. I'm old fashion, I know, but I like traditional hurka. It tastes better. For a decade I've asked the guys if they'd make some. So far none to purchase.

Gone there only 2 times now but they've never let me down. Have great selections of meats and products and wines. The staff was friendly and passionate and have fun with their job and talking with the people
