I like their price but they need better staffing. Either there's not enough on hand or they don't show up. I called today they said people available from 11 - 6 except 1/2 hr between 4 ish and 5ish. I was there at 11:10 and they went to bank could I wait. If your scheduled to be there then be there.

Was saddened to learn the Kitty died, she was a sweetheart and will be missed. Heart goes out to the workers that were her pets!

My 2 year old daughter was really looking forward to looking at the kitties and we asked if we could go into the cages and visit them and the lady promptly told us "no" and when I asked why she told me we would have to fill out an adoption form first to be allowed to visit the cats. We have been looking for a second cat for some time now because we need a cat that's good with kids, dogs and another cat. Why on earth would I fill out an adoption form for a cat when I don't even know if any of them will like my 2 yo or have the personality we're looking for? We have never ever had someone tell us we needed to fill out an adoption form at the other chowhound on byron center so we promptly went across town because my daughter was very very sad and I asked them if we could see the cats and as usual, "Of course!" I will not be going back to the jenison chowhound, unhappy rude women making rules on the spot for no reason. Makes absolutely no sense and if anything they should want the poor cats to have some socialization and the chance to meet people so they can be adopted out quicker. And SO to byron center chowhound, you all were extremely pleasant as you are every single time we've gone and more than happy to tell us all about the cats you have for adoption and it made my daughter very happy and we may have possibly found our second cat fur baby

I’m disappointed, as this is the first time I’ve had a less than stellar time at this store location. My husband and I have been coming here for a few years to pick up our pet supplies, and the workers have always been helpful.Today, though, I witnessed the employees answer a question… pretty badly. A customer asked if one of the products they were getting was made in China, and the employee responded with, “No, they don’t speak Chinese there.” (The employee had looked over the origin of the product in-question and had formulated her answer that way.)In a time where not so long ago there was an uptick of Asian hate due to misinformation and the pandemic lockdown, the employee’s response is a VERY poorly delivered—and racially charged—joke at best. It has left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth and has made my husband and I strongly reconsider shopping here in the future.

Pet friendly. Workers are kind and attentive. Very helpful.Just a reminder for visitors: ALWAYS ask for permission to touch someone else's animal. Parents -- please teach this to your children for their own safety AND for that of the animal you do not know. While we were there, we witnessed several children harassing people's pets while the parents absolutely did not care, even when asked to have their kids stop touching a pet.Don't be those people! This is a great store with great employees and nice products. Be nice!

I took my dog there to get a bath and both rooms were not clean and had dog hair all over them from the previous person washing their dog. There were no towels we had to go ask for one and we're only allowed one towel and when you have a 70 lb dog one towels not really enough. I asked to use the scale and they said the scale is broken.

The staff is always friendly and upbeat. We loved coming in to see the kitties up for adoption. My dog certainly loves the cookies we bring her! Wee have adopted a dog and cat from here and adore them both :)

Staff is friendly, however, we were just there on friday about 3:45pm and every animals cage was filthy not to mention the floor surrounding the cages was also covered in p**** The scale has also been broken for months. I asked staff about it and it seems that it will not be fixed or replaced.
