We got married here in August of 2023, and to say we had a great time would be an understatement. I've always dreamed of getting married by the water or in the woods, and this venue allowed both things to happen! We were there Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning, and we never got tired of the place. There is so much room for friends and family, and the property is loaded with activities (tennis, kayaking, boating, swimming, etc.) We were nervous that maybe the reception hall would feel too crammed during our reception, but it was very comfortable, and our guests had plenty of room to roam around. The landscaping was so beautiful and impressive, and the rooms and reception hall were very up-to-date and clean. Joy and her staff were so hospitable and accommodating to our needs. Please check this place out for future weddings, reunions, parties, etc! We cannot say enough great things about this place!!!!

A most amazing venue; beautiful property, very well maintained includes a pool, pavilion and lake with beach and fire pit. Tennis and Pickle ball court in park like setting. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Perfect for couples, families or groups. Amenities include a community kitchen with all necessities. The nearby town of Gaylord has a grocery store and variety of restaurants and candy / ice cream stores, and, Starbucks! A perfect place for playing, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful countryside. You won’t be disappointed.

I hosted a very large family reunion there July 23rd-July 27th. We have been having reunions since 1995, and this year was the best. I had tons of family reach out to me to express how much they loved the venue and how this was the best location yet. Having access to everything on site made it so we didn’t have to venture out and we all got more time together! The kids had the best time ever! The lake was a huge hit, and the water was so clear! The grounds were beautiful and so were all the common ground meeting areas!! If we choose one destination instead of different states each time, we will choose here!! I had worked with Joy for well over a year and she always got back to me so quick and was a pleasure to work with!!! This is hands down a no brainer for anyone that’s wanting to host a reunion!!! I’m so sad our reunion is over.

Family WeddingAnd Family VacationPerfect venue for both!!!Our family has been vacationing together for 27 years and Sojourn Lakeside Resort is the best there is in Michigan!!! It has something for everyone!!! We have 40+ people to please and this place pleases everyone!!! That is a miracle lol!!!This is our 3rd year coming here.We love it so much that this year we had a family wedding!!! It was awesome!!!Rooms: The main lodge has 16 nice style hotel rooms. Very comfy beds, pull out or trundle. Small frig. Nice bathroom. Some have tubs , some walk in shower.Nice views.Then there is 4 suites in Whispering pines! Perfect for a little extra privacy.Total of 20 rooms

Our large family of 45+ people have stayed at several places along the west coast of Michigan since 1996. We’ve searched high and low for a place that we can have all to ourselves. This place has 2 gathering places to eat, a kitchen to cook for our large group with plenty of storage. It also has a large beach, pool, a bonfire pit , a bar?with endless amounts of ice and so much more. Sojourn Lakeside Resort is a clean, very well maintained beautifully landscaped place to spend with a very large group. Wether it’s a reunion or a wedding, this place can accommodate you. I tell everyone I know about Sojourn because It’s the best place in Michigan with enough space to make everyone happy.

A little piece of heaven! Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, and so much space! Highly recommend for a family reunion or wedding! The hospitality room and sand bar with restrooms made it extra convenient. Love the upgrade to the kitchen. We have found the perfect place for our annual family trip with a little something for everyone!!

Sojourn Lakeside Resort is a perfect spot for a Family Vacation! It was everything you could ever ask for!!! Perfect for all ages! Lakefront, beach, clubhouse, hospitality room, tons of activities, bonfire pits, pool, beautiful gardens, Great staff. Perfect in every way!!! This is our 3rd year here and it gets better every year!!! We just love it. We have been doing an annual family vacation for 27 years and Sojourn is the best place by far!!! This year we had a family wedding in addition to our family vacation!!! Just amazing!!!

Sojourn is a beautiful place. Our family has been going there for our annual family vacation for three years now. We have 40+ people and have been doing this family vacation every summer for 27 years. We’ve gone to several resorts around Michigan, but Sojourn has most definitely proven to be the best one. We hope it is a keeper for years to come. With 40 people, it’s a challenge to please everyone, but Sojourn checks every box. There’s a beautiful pool, a welcoming beach on a picturesque lake, fire pit on the beach, kayaks, paddle boards, beach volleyball, pontoon boat (for rent), an indoor clubhouse with a bar and a kitchen, gorgeous rooms with comfortable beds, a roomy breakfast room to meet for coffee in the mornings, beautiful landscaping, horseshoe pits, tennis and pickle ball courts, basketball court, outdoor patio that seats us all, and so much space for us to spread out if we feel the need. Sojourn makes the perfect up north vacation and Joy is always helpful and accommodating as well as every staff member we’ve ever reached out to with questions and if assistance is needed. We love it there! Also had the honor of attending a wedding there on a Saturday night and that was so beautiful. I highly recommend! We love Sojourn Lakeside Resort!

Sojourn is the place to have a wedding and family vacation to follow. We had all of our needs taken care of!! We enjoyed a welcome dinner with a sunset boat ride the night prior to the wedding. Had a magical wedding and a five day family vacation!

We love Sajourn! Joy and Rob are amazing, They treat is like family. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the views are stunning, night bonfires, boating, the swimming pool, the whole package is perfect. We look forward to our stay every year.

We planned a friends reunion at Sojourn Lakeside Resort and everyone had a great time! Upon entering the grounds were well maintained with mature and manicured plantings and a soothing garden fountain. The rooms were clean with modern updates. Each room had a mini-fridge and coffee maker and convenient combination door locks so no keys needed! The hotel style rooms were in a building overlooking the lake with great views, but set above the activity lodge and lakefront to separate those resting from those playing. Down by the lakefront there was a sand beach, lined with adirondack chairs and chaise lounges, as well as kayaks & a canoe. There was a floating barge to swim out to with a ladder, and a pontoon boat available that we opted to ad. The staff was friendly and unobtrusive, showing up early to take out the trash and gas up the boat. They checked to make sure we had everything we needed and disappeared for the rest of the day. We had a very private sojourn just with our guests. There was a fire pit stocked with wood and hanging globe lights above the patio for a festive and romantic glow. We enjoyed games on the property including volleyball, corn-hole, horseshoes, 2 pickle ball courts and we brought a croquet set. The activity lodge "The Sandbar" had a convenient kitchen, a long bar and reception area with bathrooms, attached to a large gathering hall, with lake views and a stage where we had a full band, karaoke and dance parties at night. It was a pleasure working with Joy the Property Manager, she answered every question I had before arrival. Our guest told me "this is the perfect spot!, and we have to come back!" Well done Sojourn Lakeside Resort! Thanks for a great vacation!
