You've heard the expression ..I wouldn't put a dog here...well this place is awful..looks great from outside but inside it's full of unhappy over packed dogs and a staff that seems overwhelmed...the owner of this nuthouse should take notice ..there are issues. It's overpriced and service is awful for what you pay. Advice avoid this place.

Our Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix, BeeBee, went to her first day of day-care today. Here’s what I love about Canine to Five:- Staff is very engaged with the dogs - they really assess their behaviors, personalities and play styles and are working with them throughout the day (not just cleaning up)- Management appears to have a real commitment to the staff - their training, engagement and satisfaction, which translates into a better experience for the dogs- This is a local and woman owned business- They operate with great efficiency at check-in/check-outBeeBee came hope happy and tired - exactly what I was looking for.

We recently had to move and switch daycare providers, but we miss Canine to Five so much. The employees are great with the dogs and are happy to see them arrive. Very efficient pickup/drop-off process. There’s several fun things to opt into every month, from photo shoots to specialty flavored Kongs. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to board your dog!

I'm a dog aunt. I don't really know much about dog ownership. However, lol, I'm also the kind of person that learns trial by fire so I volunteered as tribute to bring my cousin's dog to daycare. He's high energy, but very much an adult human's companion. Not much of a dog's dog, so given his temperament, we were told that he would do better with private play.Great! At least we knew there was some place where he could fit it. Given we had some other grooming needs, we figured it was the perfect opportunity to see if this was the best place for him when he needs so other human interaction and we need a bit of a break. These lovely folks were sweet to their cores. As I struggled to get off his collars, I asked for help and Sylvia very kindly comforted our pup and managed to get them off and lead him into the private play area.Upon returning, I was fighting for my life with a toddler in my arms and bewilderment. Never fear, the evening human helped me get the collar on, and even brought him to the car for me and for him hooked up to his special seat. He was clean, calm and happy. Exactly what you want from your pup after a day in daycare. We couldn't be happier with their care, compassion and ultimate service. This will be our place for as long as we can get to it.

I'd like to share our first and I believe the last experience with Canine to 5 in Ferndale. It was our first boarding for our 1 year old Lab. We had to pay for one extra day, so they'll see if he is ok to stay. And that's ok if... He was evaluated good for staying. We had a week cruise so we left him there.. We've left a contact person because we would not have connection. They called next day that he is barking, pulling the leash and mouthing. To me this facility is specialized to work with dogs, and to me they should figure out if he is stressed out and how to calm down or treat your dog. And on the evaluation day I personally saw on camera that many dogs were mouthing our dog, and no one from the staff was really concerned. We called them back on the second day when we had connection. We heard complains that he is barking... bla...bla..bla. They said they want to put him in a private play place and we have to pay extra $30 per day for that. We refused asking them to wait and try to pay more attention to him because mouthing is not common for his behavior, and we asked to call our contact person in case they will be moving him to the private play. So nobody called, they moved him to the private play, and you can't see him there, there are no cameras. When we called upon our coming back, we were told they moved him, but they will not charge us extra, which we are grateful for. But nobody notified us or the contact person, nobody could find him on cameras. Then what's the point for us to leave our dog and worry where is he?We picked him up with infection in his eye, he had a papilloma on his his paw. I am nor sure if they have there infection or sanitary issues. No one talked to us, they just handled the dog and that's it.My advice please double think if you want to leave your dog there if he doesn't have perfect behavior and super well trained, and doesn't have separation anxiety. Unfortunately we didn't see any professional attitude there. And read many good reviews. But dog lodging or day care should not complain that your dog is barking. And to me they should have staff trained and understanding dogs' behavior.

I would give them a million stars if I could. When my dog, Bubba, and I moved back to Michigan 2.5 years ago, Bubba had just gone blind and I was so worried about him attending daycare. The staff at Canine to Five took such amazing care of my sweet boy, and he was always so excited to go to daycare. As soon as he realized where we were, his tail would start wagging and he would start barking to let everyone know he was there. He was so happy. My sweet boy passed away at home last weekend and the staff of Canine of Five has shown me so much love and support. They loved Bubba like he was their own and I will be forever grateful to Canine to Five for that.

Writing this review because I recently started living in the area, behind canine to five. I’ve always heard mixed reviews on this place however, I do not have a pup that attends this daycare. I’m writing a review because of the lack of common courtesy this facility has for the surrounding Residence…. It is by far not a sound proof facility and if you are planning on purchasing a home near by be ready for nonstop barking and loud obnoxious noises that come out of this place. I have a new born baby and this place cares for dogs day & night, 24/7. During the night it can get pretty loud and I’m not just talking about the dogs. The workers are constantly in & out, slamming, throwing, chucking garbage into the dumpster causing a ridiculous loud disturbance in the area. Many times waking me out of dead sleep and waking my new born who is sleep trained in noise environment. I thought things would get better the longer I stay here & maybe it happens every once in a while but this seems to be an every night thing… & in the summer, they keep the big garage door wide open during the day so be prepared for a migraine from hell. Now I know why rent is so cheap in this area, lol. specifically to accommodate the residence for what you will have to listen to day in & day out. As I addressed before, If you plan on purchasing a home near canine to five please be aware of this on going situation or invest in sound proof windows because they won’t & it does gets pretty ridiculous at times. Thank god I am just a renter for now & have the option to move out/away and that is exactly what we plan to do come spring of 2024.EDIT: it is now the next day. 9:15am!!! My husbands only day off in the week and he can’t even sleep in because of the obnoxious 15 dogs all barking at once echoing the entire neighborhood! This is insane!!! Please invest in sound proofing the facility or MOVE LOCATIONS! A consistent disturbance. people don’t want to listen to a warehouse full of barking dogs at the crack of dawn! At this point I’m so fed up that I’ve chose to write a letter of complaint to the city of Ferndale.

Canine to Five Ferndale is amazing! My dog absolutely loves it here, the staff is all so helpful and friendly. We do daycare a minimum of twice a week for our very active lab and I never worry about going out of town anymore as I know Lincoln will be so happy in boarding. A wonderful place!

I took my puppy here for the first time this morning for an “Evaluation Day” and he was there for maybe an hour before I got a text that said to call them. In which they told me he had failed. I was watching him on camera for the entire time he was there- and I just think the way they introduce puppies, especially ones that have never been in a daycare setting before is very stressful & did not help my dog. He was clearly nervous, barking at other dogs bc he was behind a fence & in a corner… which they claimed is “barrier frustration/reactivity”, but I would assume that’s typical especially for a puppy that has never been at daycare before- let alone for under an hour. On top of it- he is a German Shepherd puppy so he’s not entirely leash trained yet- so he was pulling on the leash & apparently was trying to grab at their clothes- because he was nervous & stressed. I guess I just assumed they would be equipped to deal with puppies like this, but it wasn’t the case. It was very disappointing to say the least. I feel as if they should’ve given him more time to warm up- and not do it by keeping him in a corner where all the other dogs can come and jump on the gate (of course it would cause him to have anxiety??) I was just flabbergasted at the lack of effort they gave me and my dog. I’m pregnant & really wanted him to get a chance to play with other dogs and get some energy out.

I was taking my dog to a different daycare and the 3rd time we went she would not get out of the car. I decided to switch companies and found Canine to Five in Ferndale. Now when I ask if she wants to go to daycare she runs to the door with excitement. They are wonderful and treat the dogs the right way!

Canine to Five was great for me and my dog Moses. They took really good care of him, even with all his special needs. It was so nice to have a place so I could comfortably keep Moses while I was away.
