I rented a property from Diana Shirey and husband Ben. I lived there for five years and we had what I thought was a great relationship. Until I was moving out, Diana Shirey came over before I was done packing and told me not to worry about cleaning after I finished packing. I said thanks but I cannot leave the house that way. Diana continues to walk through with me and repeatedly says not to worry myself with cleaning and that she could have someone do it. I insisted I didn’t feel comfortable leaving that way and that I always leave any property in the clean way I received it.After the walk through she pointed out a couple screens and the top of the stove color. She knew I was a single mother self employed and going to school full time. She also knew I was moving to another state. Once I was done cleaning she came by again and did a second walk through and pointed out the refrigerator drawers on bottom nothing more. When I got to the state I moved to she sent me a piece of my security deposit. $172 out of $1500 she sent a list of made up things that she and I both know was just a ploy to keeping my money. She told me as I was moving that she was thinking about selling and that she was going to take a loss in the sale because of her asking price. She claimed three doors were damaged when it was only one and she charged over $400 for that. The medicine cabinet she claimed had water damage which was old when I moved in and had no water damage taking $289 from me for that. She Diane claimed the living room ceiling had water damage which she herself admitted there was water damage to that ceiling before I moved in. The water stain is located right above the front door as if rain came in causing it or something. Diana also stole $238 from me claiming the panel above the rear eye on the stove was discolored which was wear and tear from over 5yrs of cooking on it.This woman has never taken responsibility for the $300 in food I had to throw out on time due to her refrigerator motor abruptly stopping in the middle of the night. Which caused me to throw out food until she was able to have it replaced. Money is the root of all evil and I initially thought Diana and Ben were people of god but their true colors came through when they stole money from my children and I without valid reason, knowing I moved to a different state.I have sent Diana Shirey a formal letter disputing the charges where I told her I would be following up in court if this matter isn’t otherwise handled. I have not heard from her since. Extremely poor professionalism. I’m sure she is using my money to revamp the house as she said she was going to tear down walls and put in updated cabinets. These people are untrustworthy and thieves. I’m positive this was her plan from the beginning and why she kept trying to stop me from cleaning the house before I left so she could say I left the house destroyed but since she couldn’t use that she made up something else. She also sent me pictures of the same door trying to say it was two different doors and when I asked her to send it again with the background showing which area of the house it was she wouldn’t do it. She is a liar but unfortunately for her not a good one.

My wife and I had an excellent experience with Debbie Horner and Century 21 Hartford. Debbie made the selling process as stress-free as possible, and the Hartford staff was extremely polite and delivered prompt service with good communication. Our 60's ranch style sold quickly, largely due to the smooth operation at this real estate brokerage. I would recommend Debbie to my friends and family.
