This is one of my favorite Ulta stores because it is the closest one to my home. On my most recent visit, I took my sister with me to buy a few stocking stuffers for family members and some personal essentials. After browsing the clearance section with 75% markdowns and checking out, I noticed a small display for Mugler products. Although we didn’t see Angel featured there, we asked the cashier, Ann, about it. She went out of her way to check for us, and to our delight, they carried it! Not only that, she discreetly pointed out my Diamond bonus points status. I ended up getting a $95 product for just $9.54, and I still had points left over!

PS - I am a MATURE client with a capital M. When I see reviews indicating associates are dismissive of clients concerning age, I must disagree. I have only had *great* experiences with associates younger & older than myself - at all 4 Ulta stores that I frequent.

This past Sunday I was out Christmas shopping and decided to shop at this location. I didn’t realize that the store opens at 11a.m. I was approaching the door at 10:56 when employees were entering. They basically stop me and said we’re not open yet , I said ok I’ll just wait outside the door for the 4 mins! Mind I’m standing outside. White lady walks up to the door at 10:58 and she was let in without any problems so I continued to walk in as well. As I’m look around trying to find flat irons I was followed around the as if I’m gonna steal something! So I left I will never spend another cent at this location! I felt very uncomfortable staff aren’t welcoming! All because of the color of my skin.

Horrible customer service. Employees don’t speak when you enter the store or when spoken to. Stocking employee did not move or attempt to help when I was in the aisle, just glanced at me as if I were bothering her.

I had been a customer of Ulta from the early 2000’s. There have been several instances that sales staff have been rude and disrespectful. Last week I went to Ulta to return products that did not fit my skin tone.There are not sales persons that look like me in the stores at any of the Ulta’s since the mid 2000’s, 2013-14. And they don’t understand skin tones of a darker hue. I was looking in my wallet to pull out the card I used at purchase. I had more than one card out to get to the card needed. The cashier became impatient and began picking any cards off the counter and running through the POS scanner without my permission. He made returns on my cards to complete the return transaction. There was a line forming but there were 2 other cashier standing there. It was confrontational moment but it was my birthday and I did not want to ruin my day so I did not address it.
I’m done with Ulta’s disrespectful attitude they are dishing out. I’m not going to spend money where I’m obviously not respected. Ulta your demographic does not reflect your customer base. You are in a multicultural society selling skin products to people of many skin tones but your staff does not reflect this factor. I’m done!

Blonde employee there keep following me and my sister asking us multiple times if we need help and was watching us while shopping. There’s a thin line between harassment and “customer service”. Usually I would have not even purchased anything but we were on a time crunch and I needed what I came for.

I don't like having my hand forced by a clerk checking me out at the register. In a nutshell, the cashier wanted my number and I simply wanted to bypass putting my number in. She pressed the issue more and stated that I wouldn't be able to make a return without a number on file. I didn't believe that for a second, but I gave a number that I thought would work being that Im out of state and very seldom shop at Ulta. My number was on file which was fine, but I didn't leave the store feeling good about the experience. I read the the back of the receipt and the clerk was dishonest or at the very least only gave me information that would force me to provide my number if I did need to make a return. I didn't need to provide my number to make a return. That's what physical receipts are for. I would have been more receptive if she stated that having a number on file will aid in me getting a refund if I lost my receipt. This is why self-checkout is going to replace cashiers. Please have your employees better explain terms and conditions and not make it sound threatening if I don't give up personal information. I won't be going back.

I experienced the best customer service this evening at ULTA Farmington Hills, MI. I was helped by Steven, who thoughtfully and kindly found a product for me based on a description I gave him about a product I loved that was discontinued. Steven listened, asked key questions about what I specifically liked about the product, and then guided me to a product that appeared to be similar. He nailed it! For context: I am not a makeup shopper anymore; I buy products sparingly and stick with what I like. I made a special trip to ULTA because I thought it would be the only store where I'd have a chance of finding someone who might be able to help me find what I was looking for. I am happily amazed to have met Steven, and knew as I walked out of the store that I'd be sending feedback as soon as I got home. People like Steven are a rare and treasured find in retail (or anywhere) these days. My hope is that this feedback will be shared with Steven, to recognize him for the excellent customer service he provided, to acknowledge the worth of such integrity, and to inspire others to aspire to his level of commitment to customer care. Thank you!

WARNING! IF YOU ARE OFFERED AN INTEREST FREE CREDIT CARD AT THE ULTA STORE ON ORCHARD LAKE ROAD ( JUST SOUTH OF 14 MILE RD.) IN FARMINGTON HILLS MI, IT'S A LIE!! I was shopping at Ulta on January 3, 2024. When I went to the counter to pay for my purchases, I was asked if I wanted to apply for the Ulta credit card. I said no thank you and the cashier proceeded to ring up my purchases. An associate standing nearby piped up and said that they had a special going on and the credit card had no fees or interest for one year. Of course, I changed my mind because no interest means you pay your balance off and can cancel the account before the year is over. I had the card 2 months when I noticed I was being charged interest! I called customer service and they said there was no specials noted on my account. I pretty much went ballistic! I can't stand being lied to in order to be manipulated into getting something I already said I didn't want. The person heard me say no and came over and lied straight to my face. They were also offering 20% off your first purchase and a really nice gift. Telling customers the card was interest free was the kicker. I consider this to be consumer fraud. I called the store manager as well as customer service. Customer service couldn't do anything. But I canceled the card immediately. The store manager is checking into who did it. The persons name is Pat. He is going to see what can be done. In the meantime I'm filing consumer fraud complaints with the appropriate agencies.

The young lady that assisted me with my return today(I believe her name was Mya) was very nice & apologetic. I originally did an online order from the Livonia store & when I got home I discovered the products I was given had been opened & used. Exchanged with no issues at this store!

As a former Ulta beauty employee (different location) I enjoy visiting ulta. This location has disappointed me in more ways than one and I'm finally done after today.
I came in to find new products for a skin care routine. I wasn't greeted when I came in which, eh. More that it's relevant for the rest of my interactions , or lack thereof at this place.
I walked every part of this store, for 40 minutes, with the exception of hair care. I passed 7 employees. NONE of which said anything to me. I took my time looking over all the products, decided what I wanted and got in line. The lady up front... phew. Blonde, stringy hair. Accent. Light skin. SO RUDE. I got to the point where I'm next, with others behind me. She decides to stop running the register. Looks me dead in the eye, smiles, and walks away. Gotcha. Enjoy only being nice to the snooty people, who dress like they're loaded, and ignoring the people who are continually shopping. Sephora is where I'll stay from now on.
*the young lady who did ring me up, mocha colored skin, glasses, maybe locs? Or braids? Was phenomenal. That's why it isn't 1 star

Nice and big. The store is a bit messy especially the area where the Ordinary products are and the nail polish area. (They are doing better with this every time I visit)
Staff is helpful and they are knowledgeable about the products that they sell. They can be a bit hard to find because some wear street clothes, but nevertheless they are helpful once found. They have a broad spectrum of perfumes, hair products, nail products and of course makeup. Many of the products have samples for free for you to try prior to purchasing.They do have skin specialists available on certain days. Just drop in and ask them. Jacki is a specialist in her field! She is an expert on skincare and makeup 💄. She is a delight to speak too and she listens to your needs and tries to meet you at your comfort level. Cassidy is a sweet heart ❤️. She's always so helpful and she smiles! Bonus for me!!!
