I'm going to start this by saying I will never shop at Kroger again!! This incident took place at the Essexville Kroger. I have been using their pickup option for groceries since the start of the pandemic. Today I decided to get my turkey for Thanksgiving along with a few other groceries totaling around $91. I ordered a 20 lb turkey at $1.99 per pound. I picked up my order which included my turkey. When I got home, I checked my online receipt to verify I was charged correctly. Imagine my surprise when the receipt showed my debit card was charged $399.24 because I was charged for a 174.6683 lb turkey at 1.99 lb for a total of $347.59. Silly me thought no problem this was an error by Kroger and that they should be able to fix it immediately, so I called the store. I first spoke with someone in the pickup department. They had no idea how to retrieve the receipt to fix it, so they wanted me to call the corporate number. I told him that would not work for me and could he connect me with a manager. He said his manager was on break, so I asked to speak to the store manager. He then proceeded to yell at me because it wasn't his fault, and I should just call the corporate number. I hung up the phone and got in my car and headed back to Kroger still thinking this would be a simple fix by a manager. This was not going to be a simple fix. I went to customer service and the people in this department had customer service skills and were very understanding and tried to be helpful. While I was there the store manager showed up. This man thought the whole situation was funny. This guy was extremely rude and condescending to me. I was visibly upset now. At this point I had been trying to get this error fixed for going on an hour. He did nothing at all to help. Instead of just refunding the money to me they called the corporate office. They eventually got corporate to issue a refund to my debit card which I will see in 3 to 5 days. I actually understand this policy if I was requesting a refund for a return, but this was an extremely large error on their part, I did nothing wrong. When I told them they could not have my money for 3 to 5 days due to their error this manager got very belligerent with me. Then when I was checking the amount of the refund, I realized they had the wrong amount again. They were shorting me $1.65, which this manager thought was funny again. Then they handed me cash in the amount of $1.65 to add insult to injury. BTW when I got home again, I did try to call the corporate number and after waiting for the next available customer service rep for 15 minutes I hung up. I plan to file a complaint with the better business bureau and I am emailing this to the corporate office and filing a complaint about the manager of the Essexville Michigan Kroger store as well as Kroger policies in general.

Clean store, friendly helpful staff, produce is very fresh and reasonably priced. Carries items that are not at other store, especially spices.

We tried Kroger grocery pickup yesterday, and it’s the best thing since sliced bread! It’s free for the rest of the year friends, one less thing I have to do every week of my life. Thank you Kroger for the free sockeye salmon! Great customer service. You have earned my business

Normally this Kroger is spot on. Quick & courteous. This time today at 6:30 pm at register 10, Kathy helped the customer before us and stood there and talked for about 5 minutes or more. She could have bagged the items but instead left the items and continued to talk while several customers behind us were waiting. Including us. Then, she decided to explain the the loyalty program to her. Yes, all the while not bagging the customers items. She should have sensed the frustration on the customers face as well as ours. But no, she carried on like she had all the time in the world. Well, we don't have all the time in the world. After working and having to get a few items before heading home to cook dinner, it would have been nice if she would have continued her pleasant conversation on her own time!
