I've never been to the shelter to rescue a pet, but the staff made the process seem easy. Birch and Juniper were a little skittish at first. That changed dramatically over the weekend! They're both playful and well trained at 4 months. Thanks for the very welcome additions to our family.Sincerely,The Douville's

MAKE SURE YOU CAREFULLY REVIEW PAPERWORK BEFORE LEAVING WITH YOUR NEW ADOPTION. WE ADOPTED A 13YR OLD CAT. TURNS OUT SHE'S 15. SAID SHE HAD CURED UTI WHEN IN FACT SHE HAS FULL BLOWN KIDNEY DISEASE WITH UTI STILL IN TACT. WE BEGGED FOR THE SHELTERS HELP AND WE WERE SHUNNED, HARD.I DID HEAR THIS FROM OTHER PEOPLE BUT DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM, UNTIL NOW.

My two stray kittens, adopted from DAS, have been here for 2 weeks now. Formerly Nate and Serena, I have renamed little girl to Xena because she is such a play warrior! The folks at the shelter were wonderful, and the animals obviously loved and cared for. And I have the love of 2 kittens.

Unfair and extremely strict adoption policies. They do not properly disclose of all of the necessary information like whether or not they get along with all animals, usually they just say if they've been around cats. (If it's a cat). There's one staff member in particular, I wish I knew her name, but she is probably one of the rudest people I've met, she's nice when you first meet her but as soon as you start asking questions, she turns rude and dismissive. Two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went to adopt cats but later had to return them because they didn't get along with dogs, and when we returned them, she was not understanding at all, but instead was judgmental and rude and acted as if we were the worst people in the world. Went back today to try and adopt, and was met with the same rude lady today, told me I still wasn't eligible "because it's only been a little over a week" which btw it's been two weeks and I'm not the only one who thinks she's incredibly rude. I will be going elsewhere to adopt from now on.

Very nice and helpful to a stray kitten we brought in this morning, found under our porch malnourished and with a wound from botflies. They had a vet working, and removed the botflies right away. Hope the kitten will be able to recover and find a good home soon.

We had considered putting in an application for a dog at Delta Animal Rescue. However, we only discovered after the fact that the dog we were interested in was one of three mixed breed dogs that were rescued from an Alabama puppy mill in delporable conditiions. However, these facts were not disclosed to the public when the dogs were listed for adoption. When I later politely questioned Delta Animal Rescue about their policy regarding disclosure of such pertinent facts (the puppy mill background involving extreme neglect), whoever handles Delta's Facebook account retorted that those facts are divulged at the time of adoption and that 'adoption counseling is provided'. Then in a move that further calls their full transparency into question, they deleted my comments entirely. Delta Animal Rescue should be setting animals it places up for adoption up for success and that means being TRANSPARENT from the inception all the way through to their eventual placement. It is CRITICAL that potential adopters be given all the facts, even before filling out an application, both for their sake and the animals'.
