“This is my full, concrete review of Plato's [East Lansing], I apologize for it being so long in length (ugh)The staff are usually friendly, idk if they're being genuinely friendly, but they're friendly. The fact that there have been 2-3 reviews on here claiming that this Plato's is racist is a little concerning to me... hopefully those reviews were fake/stretching the truth; I'm not 100% sure thoI haven't sold + shopped here for over a year, within that timespan I've learned some crucial tips about how to successfully sell clothing here. It's best to regularly call or check their website/Insta to see what they need most at the time, and try to keep the items in the correct season (some items are wearable year-round, too). Also it's probably better to not sell during the summer, cuz that's when the college students are on summer break, and apparently they're overstocked during that time and are pickier about what they'll take (I also understand if they're overstocked due to less people willing to buy a lot of items because of inflation). It's frustrating when they won't take items that originally retail over $100-200 but they'll take Walmart/Target/Kohls items and price them at or slightly lower than the original price (the unfair pricing thing is a problem at other thrift stores too). The thing is that the Walmart item was/is TRENDY. Unfortunately in this day and age, what clothes are trendy at the moment seems to matter more than anything else, and what's even more frustrating is that trends can change in a WEEK or a MONTH. So even if the brand of a particular item is trending or mid to high end, if the item itself is no longer in style/not trending, Plato's most likely won't take it.hope they got shopping baskets nowww”

“A pleasant thrifting experience that sets itself apart from chain thrift stores. Every worker that I have encountered when visiting here has been very friendly and helpful. A great place for any collector, reseller, or casual buyer. Item selection is a bit smaller than most thrift stores, but the density of quality items seems a lot higher. This place has a little bit of everything. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!”

“Thinking about emptying a home with a lifetime of my mom’s possessions wasn’t easy; but Kellie and her team made this process easier for us. I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful service and degree of communication regarding the steps of the estate sale and auction that Kellie gave us. Outstanding. There are a number of estate sale businesses my sister and I could have chosen, but we made the absolute BEST choice by selecting Kellie’s!”

“This location has been my go-to since I moved to the area. I am particularly proud of things I find when thrifting. However, I was shocked by the $70 price tag on a wii and some controllers in a shoe box. I had gotten a wii console here for less than $5 not even a year before, and it was in the original box, not a shoebox. How can such prices be justified? The entire idea of a thrift store is to find things second-hand at good prices, not to encounter similar prices to scalpers on Ebay. 14x the price for a console that came out in 2006...”

“Great stuff, great prices, but the only goodwill where they act like it’s a huge inconvenience to help someone move large pieces of furniture. Every other goodwill has multiple hands on deck. I mean why sell big pieces of furniture if you can’t help move it?”

“I've had no problems here. Clean store, well organized. Prices are what they are (to me ?‍♂️), so I either take it or leave it.I did find some great items for way less than I could find otherwise, even online.”
