Worked for YMCA when our son was little as it fit our family's schedule. When I learned I had cancer--and shared the news with my boss at the suburban location where I was working--they let me go. So, here I am...years later...still alive. I can't help but to feel disgust every time I drive past the facility and think, "Thanks for the compassion." Still unbelievable to me and I never did anything about it as I had bigger challenges at the time. Nice facility and programs, but...questionable ethical leadership and values.

for the price and location, given there is a lack of affordable gyms around, this place is pretty good. Its huge and has a little bit of everything vs a lot of one thing. They have one smith machine and another regular squat rack if you go during the morning there isn't usually a line like there is at other gyms. If you live in downtown and don't have a gym in your apartment building I highly recommend coming here over another place.

Great local gym for Detroit. Busy on weekends with short hours, but reasonable in both respects during the week.

They do not honor class registrations. Which means that if you sign up for the class, but other people get there before you, you don’t get to participate. They blame it on a system error even though there are more people sitting in the class than who they have on the registration sheet. If you are looking to lift, this gym is probably fine. If you are looking to do classes, be prepared to show up super earlier to make sure you get to be in any class you register for.Try again next time is not an appropriate response to wasting someone’s time who bothered to follow your system…

Great besides two major issues: Gym needs to open earlier on Saturday and Sunday. Security barrier gate in public lobby (at scan-in desk) need to be replaced to mitigate personal, locker, & vehicle theft.

I was supposed to drop off a friend and her daughter but the YMCA seems fresh and fragrant simple

The staff is nice. They need a sauna and steam room for this location fast. This would definitely take the environment to 5 stars.

After school careI signed my daughter up for latchkey at the elementary next to the middle school in Wyandotte. They knew her age and it states latchkey accepts kids up to the age of 13. My daughter is 11. I paid the registration fees and for this week. My child was stranded and confused because they told her they do not accept junior high students anymore. My daughter was upset and trying to get ahold of us to come get her. Unfortunately it took a few calls to find someone to answer being we were working. Now we are screwed for this week with work being one of us have to get off early since it’s last minute and the other latchkey program in the city is closed to speak to someone today.

2 bench presses & 2 squad racks. How does a gym only have two of each in the entire building?Get ride of half of the machines and treadmills, and add more free weights so I don’t have to wait half the time I’m there.

It is a beautiful facility, but not for me. I joined primarily for the pool. The hours are very limited. The showers are ice-cold and the water Aerobics classes are sub-par.
