This was our first time in Detroit, and on our outing near the downtown area, I saw the church and was mesmerized by its beautiful exterior. So we walked a couple of blocks over and were able to walk in.
IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CHURCH! Very ornate. Fantastic stained glass high along the walls.
It's always great to visit 100+ year old churches. I hope to be able to visit again for a service.

The Canons of the ICKSP clearly take their duty of shepherding Christ's flock seriously! Reverent liturgies, beautiful historic church, and a perpetual novena to St. Joseph every Wednesday after Mass. One of the best places in Detroit to encounter our King and the man who loved Him the most.Ite ad Joseph!

Beautifully preserved pre-V2 church, TLM Masses & confessions daily, observing the traditional calendar. Run by ICKSP but still an Archdiocese church (that might change after Vigneron retires, like Cupich ruined the ICK in Chicago. Very little parking, so be prepared to park on side streets & walk a bit. Also only 2 one-seat bathrooms so be prepared. More bathrooms in the social hall, which is only rarely unlocked (immediately after Mass). Large reverent dedicated community - show up early if you want a seat.

It's an amazing church! I love old church architecture and St. Joseph Shrine is among the best in Detroit.

Traditional Latin Mass. Both priests and parishioners are very welcoming and hold all kind of events for families/significant others. Solid theology performed and taught in one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Detroit.

I have attended Mass at St. Joseph Shine about 5 times now, and each time is a glorious experience— reverent, wonderful times attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This church is a beautiful piece of history and we are blessed to have it still with us. The Traditional Latin Mass is the truly Catholic Mass of all time.

Church was open for me to take several photos and spend some time with the Blessed SacramentEdit October 2023. Got to visit for Mass and Confession. Both were the most edifying Sacraments of each, I have been able to receive in a long, long time. Mass was done extremely well. Father didn't hold back in confession either, making clear of what is right and wrong, while also sounding relatable and practical. I left so refreshed. Definitely recommend!

A very Holy and spiritual place to be. The Catholic traditional decor is beyond description and pictures hardly convey the beauty and sacredness of this church. This is one of those locations where you actually need to be there to experience this small bit of heaven on earth!!!! ????????????

I have now been to this shrine three times, coming from an hour away in Canada. The first time I was given great advice from the priest in the confessional and he took extra time afterwards to help me out and offer guidance. The second time was for the Easter Vigil and I was just blown away with the Liturgy. The third time was this past Sunday, and not only was the 7am Mass quiet and peaceful, but the sermon felt like drinking from a fire hose. It was so helpful, both challenging and reassuring. I am very grateful, and I plan to come back more often.

Arguably one of the most beautiful parishes in the entire Archdiocese of Detroit. A place where you will be spiritually nourished, challenged, and surrounded by priests and parishioners who want to help you get to heaven. Very beautiful and reverent Masses... the opportunity for confession every day... amazing music... rich devotional life... catechesis for children, teens, and adults... a deep love for Our Lord, Our Lady, the saints, and the Church.
