“My fiancé and I love getting away for random weekends, so upon booking it was definitely the uniqueness of the rooms that caught my attention, and it did NOT disappoint! We walked to the London Chop House for dinner after not being able to be sat in the hotel restaurant and it was the best dinner we've had in a long time. Unfortunately we never got to eat at the restaurant inside of the hotel because reservations are highly recommended due to them being so busy, but that's not the hotel's fault. All in all, if you want a nice weekend away from home, this place is a great stay and well worth the money.”

“My husband and I have stayed here twice. Once in 2022 and once in 2024. In those two years, there have been a number of renovations to the building, and they are still ongoing. Where there used to be an art gallery is now Presley's, an incredible restaurant. The Library, a small bar with large attached lounge area is warm and cozy and offers live piano music. This lounge area is also where you'll find Reception. The main lobby area is beautiful and comfortable with plenty of space to socialize or relax. Our room, though on the smaller side, had everything we needed and was very enjoyable. There was a bar cart, coffee cart, desk space, large screen tv, side chair and ottoman, extremely comfortable bed with phone charging ports in the side lamps and spacious shower. The general feel of the hotel is artistic, classy and intimate. Perfect for a couples getaway! The location is great, within walking distance to restaurants, entertainment venues and local points of interest. There is also free public transportation which hits stops about every 15 minutes. While there is public parking available close to the hotel, valet parking is available and a nice option when staying in the colder months. If you're staying in downtown Detroit, I would highly recommend staying at the historical Aloft. Truly a beautiful and enjoyable experience every time.”

“My fiancé and I have stayed here three times so far and will always continue to come back! The building itself is historic and beautiful and the secure parking is a major plus! The rooms are always clean and comfortable for our stay. The staff is also very friendly! We had an instance where we needed to move our reservation to a later date due to circumstances that were out of our control, and the staff were lovely in helping accommodate us! (I wish I could remember who it was that helped us, but thank you!!) The location is another thing we love! Within walking distance are a ton of unique restaurants!Overall, we love staying here and greatly prefer it over major hospitality chains. We always recommend it to all of our friends and family if they ever need a place to stay in Detroit!”

“Everything about the hotel is amazing from the Artwork to the books in the halls and the rooms the bars the alley way the luxury touches to everything Shinola did not miss except the room's don't have microwaves but if you call down they'll bring one up for you !”

“This Hotel is old, so remember that. The rooms aren't giant they don't have ALL the amenities, but it's got location, location, location AND atmosphere. The rooms are small but cute, the bathroom was rad and the lobby was radder. It's close to so much including the people mover which is awesome. The Candy Bar is downstairs which is super fun and is across the street from the Opera house. SO, if you're down for historic charm close to fun things... look no further.”

“Frankie Beverly and Maze was amazing! The first time I've been to the Sound Board. I would not mind going back for another concert. We had pretty good seats & the crowd was laid back. The venue is small & seems as if there is not a bad seat in the house!”

“Very good experience here. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Wonderful at the front desk and valet. The shuttle service is very convenient with a knowledgeable and friendly driver that will take you anywhere close by.The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. Lots of space. The hotel was also well decorated. Great experience.”

“The casino is huge and crowded. You best either have a particular machine in mind or have enough time to walk around cause getting turned around is easy. There is an issue though with getting waitstaff/servers to bring waters around. Also some of the food places are understaffed and were a tad slow. The casino itself is clean and bright. Lots going on and variety of machines to choose from. Can't say how hot the slots were though... some bells, no yells this time.”

“Nice and accommodating. My family and I stayed a couple of nights and it was just what we needed. Would preferred them to washed their blankets and other things with something gentle for people with sensitive skin. Overall they are the best out of other motels around.”

“Nice casino with plenty of slots. It was clean, the service excellent and the drinks weren't overpriced. We signed up as new members and they had some decent promotions.”

“Considering what kind of place this is, fewer and fewer are as easily available, located and especially as cost efficient! Definitely the cleanest of it's kind and all but 1 member of the staff is available, friendly and helpful. No nonsense straight to the point business. Professionalism from all but one. If you've ever been here during their shift you'll know exactly who I'm talking about. I'll leave that at that. Other than that, and the location (which was simply a terrible terrible idea if you ask me) I have no complaints. Of the choices this is the first one I'd choose.”

“Our only negative was that the valet took an hour to bring our vehicle! I texted, then reminded, then found our ticket in the pile of tickets to remind him again! There was also a car blocking traffic and the valets were talking that none of them could remember who it belonged to and if it was waiting for someone to come down or if it needed to go to the garage. The completely disorganized valet service was bad enough that I will not stay here again.”

“Great experience in this new hotel! The rooftop bar is a ton of fun on the weekend. No disappointments here! Close to everything we wanted to experience and great restaurants are all within walking distance!”

“Our room was spacious, and we had our own parking spot right in front of it. The inn's location is great; easy walking distance to downtown. Founders Brewing is close by. We felt safe. The owner, Mona, really aimed to please. Her breakfasts were delicious. Lots to do in Detroit; we're looking forward to returning. When we do, we'll stay at this wonderful inn.”

“Everything was wonderful. We had tickets to a show at the Fox and chose the Inn because of the charm and location. The location is excellent for the stadiums and theaters. Arrived at 4:00 to our pick of spaces in the lot. Checked in and walked to the Grey Ghost for dinner before heading to the Fox and a quick walk back to the Inn. I wish there had been a heavier comforter on the bed (only a thin sheet and bedspread). We found a second quilt/bedspread in the wardrobe, so it helped some. If the weather had cooperated it would have been perfect.”

“Great hotel(with nice views) just needs to be a bit updated and housekeeping needs to be more detailed. The views and hotel it self feels like it needs more life ..food court had 1 restaurant open..its a ghost town .The GM museum is nice ..the hotel/ bldg needs a revamp (some of the staff was ok other staff was super helpful). It could be a great place to stay...it just needs attention to the rooms and updating more staff!”

“I had a wonderful time as always BUT!!! I must point out the CUSTOMER SERVICE was horrible. Yes it was super bowl but $250 for a table at the sports book bar ? And $100 an hour after SMH so disappointed and it was my birthday and I had guest as well. Then we go over to the food court and Red lotus Asian Kitchen ??‍♀️ Food was really good ?? But the customer service was the WORST!!! The cashier, she was soooooo nasty and rude... She is the chubby girl with the long wavy orange wig. What a down grade to the company. But it won't stop me from going!!! Thanks Hollywood Casino for an awesome time!!!!Rooms: Rooms are updated but I REALLY LOVE THE OLD ROOMS.. But still nice”

“It's a bit out dated ,and could really use some vacuuming and shampooing and new blinds .The bathtub had a catcher in it .it was full of old hair and gross stuff .other than that it's quiet ,safe ,there are no homeless or drug addicts in the parking lot at night .The owners are very kind .which is why I gave this motel 4 stars .I didn't give it 5 because it needs a thorough clean. There are no bugs at this motel .That is huge .Rooms are very nice ,very big .Gas station near by fast food within walking distance .”

“The Normandie Hotel is not perfect but it gets five stars because of the following reasons:1. No felony background checks;2. No credit checks;3. No housing discrimination;4. Immediate occupancy;5. Nice cozy clean room. Surprised the hell out of me. Laid on that bed and fell out. TV, a little refrigerator, and a microwave. I loved it.6. It is a place to live when it is hard to find a house or an apartment right away; and7. The people there do not tolerate no BS. They will not allow you in without pay stubs. If I ever find myself in a position where I need and immediate roof over my head, I know where to go.”

“Got a room for the Lions playoff game. If you’re looking to save money and be close to Ford Field this place is perfect, we walked there and back with no problem. Room had no dirt or bugs. Don’t go into this expecting the Ritz and you’ll be happy with your stay. Jan, the manager, was absolutely wonderful. Would recommend and would stay again. Thanks Jan!Walkability: Close to a lot of great places.”
