I hate HAP insurance. Period. I've been serving my community as a medical technician (we make about HALF of what a RN makes) for 16 years, including through the pandemic. Because of several medical issues, I cannot take the weight loss medications covered by HAP... they LITERALLY ONLY cover amphetamine-based drugs and one other that gives you diarrhea, which is bad for IBS. They will not cover Mounjaro or any other popular, safer, effective and NON-NARCOTIC weight loss medications (I can't exercise much because of a variety of back problems). I really don't care how I LOOK... I have a healthy self esteem, and a husband who loves me no matter what... but for HEALTH reasons and being that I'm borderline diabetic, I would like to try Mounjaro. THANKS FOR NOTHING, HAP! You are literally OWNED by Henry Ford Health, which is MY EMPLOYER... yet I cannot get a simple weight loss medication covered. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY.

Don't get involved with hap Medicare plans. The policy was sold to me under false pretense; they said all my doctors were in their network. Well they lied, 3 were not. I called to cancel the plan on the 19th they said the policy would be canceled the first of next month. The last day of the month they inform me I must write a letter to Medicare to cancel the policy.

Absolutely abysmal service, the reps do not actually know what is going on and this insurance has no idea how to handle patients or their provider partners.

This is the worst insurance carrier in SE Michigan. They take forever to bill charges correctly, and when they do it completely lacks coverage that other insurance carriers are happy to help out and pay for. They are much cheaper than BCBSM and others but at least those you can go see someone when you are sick and not be hit with hundreds if not thousands of dollars in bills. Don't sign up for them if you like paying lots of out-of-pocket expenses even after Co-Payments. My employer is a healthcare provider and I have no idea why they chose to offer this insurance to their own employees. They realyl seem not to give a single crap about the Detroit community where they are located. Horrible company.

Worst healthcare provider in my 63 years of living. Turned down a cancer biopsy and almost affected my credit; took 6 months to get them to finally invoice it properly. They did not cover the simple colonoscopy alternative where fecal material is tested for colon cancer; emailed the local rep and never got an answer. Lastly, was told by their eyeglass provider that partial coverage is reimbursed for eyeglasses at Costco; just received a letter from HAP paid Zero on the claim. Worst CS, Mgt., and most unethical provider I have ever experienced. Run away, run very quickly from them!!!

Zero common sense. Just became a member on July 1. I am told by them on 7/7 my insurance ended with them 6/30. I was with Blue Cross Blue Shield, job relocation. They admitted to me they agree I am new as of 7/1, but can't explain why they cancelled my policy on 6/30 when I was never with them! They are clueless with zero common sense.

How great it is that every insurance carrier has outsourced their customer service these days. Anything to save a buck while the CEOs are raking it in. Usually we can handle this carrier online, but not everything can be done on the portal unfortunately. You need to give access to a Provider customer service rep that can understand English to help resolve the issue at hand. There's no Detroit line to call directly, no provider representative email, only the general customer service phone number - and those reps won't even transfer you to someone that can further assist when they are totally lost.
