In short: we couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding. We worked with Taliah to plan and prepare our wedding there, and the process was incredibly smooth, detailed, and organized. She left no stone unturned and helped us make decisions on things we never would have thought about - there are so many things, both large and little, that make for a great wedding, and it was clear on our day that they were ready for all of them. Every single person we interacted with at every level of staff was very kind, thoughtful, and attentive. Our guests remarked on how amazing the venue is; pictures barely do it justice.
We feel very fortunate to have had our wedding at the Gem, it was everything we could've wanted and more for our special day.

My wife and I had a fantastic wedding at the Gem Theater this summer! The venue is gorgeous and unparalleled in the city, abd offered so many good photo opportunities. We loved having access to the getting ready rooms and the rest of the entire theater. Our guests had a number of different areas to hang out during the reception. The food, drink, and service was excellent throughout the night. We heard nothing but good things from our guests about their experiences.
Working with Taliah was great, and she was able to answer all the questions we had along the way. We didn't have a wedding planner, but Taliah and the day of coordinator at the Gem helped things go off without a hitch.
Thanks to the Gem for helping make it the wedding of our dreams.

We had a wonderful experience working with the Gem Theatre and our sales manager, Taliah, for our wedding. Taliah and all the other staff we worked with were professional, responsive, and accommodating of all requests we made in the lead-up to the wedding. We did use an additional day-of coordinator (Susan Elian Events Planning), and also worked with Natalie as the Gem's event coordinator. They worked great together to keep the event moving as planned and let me and my wife enjoy our day without any stress.
The actual wedding was fantastic. The venue was clean and gorgeous, the food was delicious, drinks were great with fast service and friendly bartenders. We had our ceremony upstairs and then dinner in the main theater. They did a great job with decor, lighting, and I especially liked the spotlights for speeches during our first dance. Everyone I spoke with was as impressed as we were by the main theater area. We loved that there were so many different areas throughout the building for our guests to enjoy if they wanted to get away from the music. The dressing rooms were great and they kept us stocked with appetizers and drinks as we needed. There are so many little areas that our photographer was able to pull us into for great photo opportunities. There is a parking garage attached to the building for easy load in and out and for guests, and several walking distance hotels for anyone planning to stay the night nearby.
Beyond the wedding itself, the tasting was one of our favorite wedding planning experiences. Everything we tried was great and it was nice to get a VIP experience in the midst of all the other wedding planning activities.
I can't say enough positive things, we were very happy with our experience working with the staff at the Gem and the venue is gorgeous. I'm sure all types of people can appreciate this venue, and as a lifelong music lover, having a theater for our wedding venue brought me a lot of happiness. All our guests were impressed and so were we.

My husband and I got married at the Gem on August 3rd and it was the perfect day! Every person who worked with us including Taliah and Nathalie were so nice and helpful throughout the night. We had an amazing day and am so glad we picked the gem for our wedding. Everyone came up to us raving about the venue and the food and service. I would highly recommend having your wedding here!

I’m so happy I chose the Gem Theater for my husband’s 70th surprise birthday celebration.
Amber’s expertise played a major part in the success of this event. This was my husband’s first birthday party and the best experience ever.
There was not one complaint. The service the food the atmosphere was top notch. Natalie’s concern to final details also contributed to the success of the event. I am well pleased and will recommend the Gem Theater to everyone interested that I know. Thank you Amber and Natalie!

My husband and I had our wedding at the Gem Theatre this past February and I can not recommend it enough! From the very first viewing all the way to post wedding check ins the staff at the Gem was amazing! Amber was our contact at the Gem and she always responded right back and was a great help with all of my questions.
Day of the wedding went off without a problem! Nathalie , our day of coordinator, was driving force that kept the wedding going smoothly! We cannot thank her enough for all the help she was that day!
The green room/get ready area were very nice and they supplied us with some snacks and drinks. The green rooms are close by each other so you had to be careful not to pass each other but Nathalie was amazing at keeping us apart until I walked down the aisle!
It has been over a month since the wedding and to this day we are still receiving compliments
about the food at the wedding! Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. You have to try the butternut squash ravioli, it was our favorite along with the loaded potato spring rolls!
We want to thank the Gem for hosting our wedding. The Gem made the day even more magical than it already would have been. I highly recommended giving them a try!

We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at The Gem Theatre on 12/16/23. Amber was our lovely sales manager who we worked with from when we booked the venue a year before our event until the week before our wedding. She responded quickly to emails and answered all of our questions with transparency. For weddings, The Gem cannot guarantee that couples can host their rehearsals at the venue itself and is only able to communicate if this is possible two weeks before the event. But Amber knew how important this was to us and was able to tell us that we had secured the venue for our rehearsal a month prior, which took stress off our shoulders! Nathalie rocked it as our venue manager, who handled day-of logistics. She was present for our rehearsal the day before and made sure we were all on the same page. She communicated our vision to The Gem staff so that they could follow suit and coordinated seamlessly with our vendors. The food was phenomenal! We had passed appetizers during our cocktail hour and opted for crab cakes, mini beef wellingtons, and spanakopita. Everyone loved all of them. Same thing for the dinner and bar service. No complaints! The staff was on-point throughout the evening tending to the needs of us and our guests. We personally found the cost of The Gem to be reasonable considering the location within downtown Detroit (right next to Ford Field), the exceptional service, and the gorgeous venue itself. It was also very convenient that the venue has free on-site parking that they let us use for our rehearsal the day before and then for all of our guests the day of. We hosted our wedding on the same day as a Lions game and the fact that our guests could park in The Gem's structure easily was wonderful. The whole event ran smoothly. Whatever hiccups there were we weren't aware of as Nathalie handled them. We would wholeheartedly recommend hosting a wedding at The Gem! Thank you again to the whole team at The Gem for making our wedding such a success!

Lovely event space! The holiday decorations were elegant and complimentary of the historic architecture of the building. Staff was exceptional and the food was delicious! Will definitely book a future event!
