Travelled from Canada and arrived at 1am. We let them know ahead of time and they made sure to accomodate for us despite no one being at the front desk that late. They gave us detailed instructions on how to get into our room on our own, and the entire process was so easy!
Service was exceptional and the guy at the front desk is very friendly and accommodating. Check out time was 11am and as we were leaving we told him we would be sitting at the cafe next door till our bus back at 4pm. He offered to keep our luggage with him until we actually left so we could keep exploring the area! We really appreciated his attentiveness. Would recommend to anyone new in the area, perfect spot for exploring Detroit!

5/5 stars absolutely!! Just so accommodating the entire time, really good location for the event we wanted to go to, security was impressive and we felt really safe, breakfast was amazing, and the building/place itself is very beautiful. Staff were sooo nice and always ready to help.
It's our first time crossing the border from Canada and we were really lucky to stay here because it has just been an amazing experience. Will definitely recommend to everybody that is travelling to Detroit. Will also definitely return if we ever come back to the city!

I hesitate to write this review, for fear of shining a spotlight on a hidden gem and never being able to get a reservation again, but here goes.
Wow. El Moore is the lodging you wish you could will into existence - like it was conjured from a dream. The location is ideal. The grounds are exquisite. The room (we stayed in the Benedict) is the perfect blend of function and style. From welcome to departure, the entire experience was absolutely fabulous.

What a gem! So glad we stayed here instead of an Airbnb or hotel. Easy parking, beautiful historic building, friendly people, and location was quiet, safe, and convenient to everything.

We loved our stay at el Moore! Great atmosphere, lovely staff. You can tell they take pride in their business. The room was very clean and comfortable. Lots to do in the area. The fact that it's cheaper than many hotels in the area is a huge bonus. Gated/ secured parking was great as well. Will definitely stay here again in the future! :)

Beautiful property. Room, although small, was nicely appointed and staff was great. Great location, walkable to all things downtown and Midtown. Will definitely consider staying with again. Thank you for the hospitality.

My fiancé and I have stayed here three times so far and will always continue to come back! The building itself is historic and beautiful and the secure parking is a major plus! The rooms are always clean and comfortable for our stay. The staff is also very friendly! We had an instance where we needed to move our reservation to a later date due to circumstances that were out of our control, and the staff were lovely in helping accommodate us! (I wish I could remember who it was that helped us, but thank you!!) The location is another thing we love! Within walking distance are a ton of unique restaurants!Overall, we love staying here and greatly prefer it over major hospitality chains. We always recommend it to all of our friends and family if they ever need a place to stay in Detroit!

I really need everyone to know that this is one of the best places I have ever stayed!!! I have traveled across the US and Europe and stayed in AirBNBs and Hotels but never a traditional BnB or lodge. We have stayed in various hotels in Detroit and always been underwhelmed for the price we paid. This was such a lovely experience. The staff were both incredibly kind and offered great suggestions. I am so looking forward to staying here again. I've already sent this to everyone I know who visits Detroit. The breakfast! The tea selection! The bed! The CLEANEST bathroom I've ever seen in my entire life. We stayed in the Kasem room. The location is safe and features robust options for dining and drinks. Close to Majestic Theatre. Thank you so much, El Moore staff. We will be back.

The El Moore is my favorite place to book in Detroit, and I have stayed in every room over the years. Even the $90 bunk room in the basement is comfortable. Reasonable rates. Conveniently located in safe midtown neighborhood and a short walk to the Woodward Ave Q-line for access to downtown entertainment and sports venues. Free secure parking. Rooms are squeaky clean and modern with emphasis on sustainability. Delicious continental breakfast and 24 hour coffee and tea in the parlor. Mingling with other guests and full time building residents is always rewarding. Harriet at check-in and Michel at breakfast and check-out are always welcoming, friendly, and love Detroit so are full of suggestions for dining and activities.Rooms: Choice of comfortable rooms from small ones in garden level (basement) bunkrooms to spacious and scenic top floor.Safety: Secure parking and entry into building, safe neighborhood.Walkability: Easy walking to midtown eateries and entertainment.

Excellent, fun place in a really cool neighborhood with lots of restaurants, markets and such close by. Close to transit, not far from downtown. Breakfasts were excellent. I stayed in the Hawthorne room, which was small and a bit spartan but just what I needed (one person) and the bathroom was great.Nearby activities: Neighborhood to the north near Wayne State is fun. Lots of cool architecture in the homes and apartments nearby

Incredible experience staying at the El Moore Lodge! Maia was there to check us in and was super helpful getting us all set up. The parking and entryway was secure was accessible, and loved that there was coffee and breakfast each morning. The room itself was minimalist but comfortable and the kitchenette was everything we needed. I liked that sustainability is intentional- no leaving the lights on, or excess plastic anyway. The views were outstanding. We live in Detroit so it was a great treat to see the city from that perspective. Will definitely recommend and will hopefully have the chance to stay there again!Rooms: The rooms were tasteful, not huge, but super comfortable and thoughtfully designed.Nearby activities: So much to do! Walk to the museums, or head downtown for a show. The neighborhood itself is great for exploring and shopping.Safety: Gated entrance and parking were nice. Street parking and walking around this neighborhood is usually pretty safe.Walkability: If you’re looking for walkability in the city of Detroit, this place is the perfect stay. If you have a car, park it in the gated lot and walk to the nearby q-line to get downtown or find a MoGo bike share station or scooter. There are many food, cafe, bar, and grocery options within short walking distance.
