This is a "NO KILL" shelter, and they are extremely thorough in the pet adoption process. However, they only take strays and surrenders from Dearborn ONLY.

I was so excited. After years of searching, waiting I finally found the cat I knew would be a great addition to our family. I sent an application right as they opened and I called 45 minutes later. Was told the cat I wanted “Tutu” was still there and that she had didn’t need a hold placed because something along the lines of no one wanting her and her being there for a long time. I’m from Florida so definitely not used to the Michigan traffic and all of the road/lane closures…. I said id be there by 3 but because of what I already mentioned , I arrived 11 minutes late. I thought no big deal “no one wanted her” and surely I’d receive a call if anything happened… nope.. was told she’d been picked up by someone that “just walked in 10 minutes ago.. before my appointment. To say I’m distraught is an understatement.So, thanks for getting my hopes up and then shattering my heart.Update: Called me and apologized for what happened and when they got more of the snowshoe cats in, called and asked if I was still interested (I was/am). Great experience and response! Made a mistake and fixed it. I can't ask for more. Thank you ???❤️ ? ?

We have now adopted 2 dogs from the Dearborn Shelter. The Staff was friendly, kind and thorough.Both of our dogs quickly became an important family member. As we give love to them, they give love to us. Do adopt, and provide a good, loving home to a well deserving pet!

Having a doggy slumber party with Captain Hook was so much fun! He was such a well behaved house guest. CH is a very gentle, totally sweet and affectionate pup that’s still available for adoption! Check him out at the Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit.

absolutely terrible customer service, 2 older ladies on the front desk treated me with disrespect the moment i walked in and start huffing and puffing at any question i’d ask about my pet.

I've been to so many animal shelters and SPCA over the years and adopted many wonderful friends. This particular place was overwhelmingly a positive experience right from the very beginning. I was kindly greeted by informative staff who guided me through the whole process. With so many wonderful choices of little furry friends, it's just so hard to narrow it down, but I'm sure you'll find your next "furry-ever" buddy as well. I shall return!

I filled out an application and about an hour later, I got a call to come in and to visit my new companion. After my awesome visit, I was able to sign some paperwork and take Sunday ( my pet ) home same day!
