Very unfriendly guy behind counter. Would not acknowledge my presence. Did not respond to anything. I'm an old white guy. I will never go there again

I get the vibe that the guy behind the counter is racist. I'm here temporarily from California and it's right down the road from our house so I've been inside about 4 times. I work remotely for a major tech company so stopping for a drink once a week is one of my ways to unwind if I’m not mediating. I thought maybe the guy was having a bad day so I told myself I would go in a few more times to buy what I need and observe how he interacts with other customers.
I’ve noticed him carrying on conversations with other customers, laughing and joking but when I approach the counter there’s a total shift in his behavior each time. I attempted to talk and he’s just not friendly. My fiancé who’s Caucasian said the guy is friendly with him when he goes in. Same for my fiancé’s friend who’s a Caucasian female. She said he likes talking to her and he’s friendly.
I’ve done nothing to the guy but be friendly when I go to his store. I’m quite proper as well. Apparently he once made a comment about a black guy who smelled like he hot boxed the car and said he told him not to come in smelling like that. (Understandable because I wouldn’t want my store or home smelling like that) but when I was inside the other night, there was a Caucasian guy who was at the counter and he smelled like smoke. It was quite strong and I could smell it before I reached the counter. The guy said nothing. I’m not one to always throw the race card but you just get that vibe after a few observations. I didn’t want to assume right away so I went in a few times to closely observe. Being in this state is miserable enough and to have to deal with that is just ridiculous. So I won’t go in anymore. No one should have to feel that way. I did think about confronting him about it to make him aware that I read him quite well. Years back I use to work with Homeland and I was trained to read people so I’m pretty good with reading people. At least I read him and observed multiple times before reaching this conclusions. I will definitely start going to the next closet store when I want another adult beverage.

It's okay there was a lot of liquors in there that you can choose from but they didn't have the one that my girlfriend was looking for so we didn't purchase anything and there was a line of five people ahead of her just to ask a questionshe stood there for 15 minutes just waiting to ask a question
