Update 2/2021: word on the street by someone intimately aware that Palladium lost their FFL not due to expiration of license as owner is falsely claiming; it was due to inappropriate sales to 2 police officers by not using Michigan driver’s licenses as mode of identification. Officers were the ones who reported to the ATF which led to confiscation of Palladium’s FFL license.I personally dislike poor reviews, and even less writing one which I do not pursue with very rare exception. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt and give them a second chance to correct an issue. People’s livelihoods can hinge on reviews. However, there are times when I feel a responsibility to report shady business dealings to protect future customers. I had 2 rifle stocks that needed recoil pads installed. I call Palladium and spoke with Larry who said they could do them both within 2 weeks at a cost of $35 to cut one stock to length and an additional $35 each stock to grind each pad; cost roughly $100 for both stocks. I dropped off the stocks August 13, expecting completion by end of month. Larry assured me I was getting them in before the big fall push for hunting season. When I called back at the end of the 2 weeks, I was informed his guy hadn’t got them done but maybe next week. Well I finally was notified 6 weeks later from initial drop off the stocks were done. October 1st I went to get the stocks. When I went to pay, instead of the $100 I was quoted it was $165. Why the price jump? “Well I was told I had to charge you for mounting the pads in addition to grinding them, we can’t keep giving services away”. Then I examined each pad. One was acceptable but not great. The other was horrible: pad was beveled and ground unevenly, with a gouge into the rubber where it met the stock exposing the butt face of the wood. Plus there was a gap on the toe end between the pad and wood. I pointed it out to Larry and he acknowledged the bad job and said he would have the guy alter it. I was justifiably upset. These are nice walnut stocks. So I intentionally left the store and called him up later so to avoid an airing of dissatisfaction in front of other customers. I was polite and expressed my dismay at such shoddy work, especially after the prolonged job and hiked price. Larry said he would order a new pad as there was no way the pad could be salvaged. I call 2 weeks later mid-October: “we haven’t ordered the pad, heh-heh been busy”. Called Palladium a week later “ we got the pad now, will have it done in 1 week” 3rd week October. Call them now end of October “oh, we didn’t get it done yet. I replied you promised it would be done by now. Larry replied “Stuff was out of stock and it took 6 weeks to get the pad shipped” (no Larry, it only took 3 weeks). Larry called me November 5 and left message that stock is done. I picked it up November 6, and pad was a minimally acceptable install. I have spoken with a few guys who have dealt with Palladium before, and each warned of both spotty gunsmithing and business transactions. They no longer do business there. I spoke with Larry who had at times a used-car salesman approach to concern. You would think if there is a blatant discrepancy in time or quality of service you would bend over backwards to rectify the issue. He has no integrity. Larry didn’t have the decency to apologize for the total screw up. A quoted two week job turned into a 2 month-plus ordeal. Avoid Palladium if at all possible! Beware! Go to the shop in Sparta; better gunsmithing there.

Dropped my .22 rifle off to them 2 weeks ago to have a firing pin put in. After not hearing from them for 2 weeks I called them and got told it was done. I live in Muskegon so it took me 30 mins to get there. I gave them my ticket and he proceeded to grab my gun from the back, he then called the gunsmith to make sure it was done. He was told it was not done and the firing pin wasn’t even in there facility! I asked the gentleman there what the issue was and the answer was “I don’t know” I’m not the owner. Took my rifle back and looking for another shop! Go anywhere besides this joke of a place! No wonder there is no one in that place! Hope your customer service gets better or you might as well close the doors now.

Always liked going in there, but the owner, Larry, was an quite rude today and has changed how I feel about the place. Wanted to support a local business but won't be doing that here anymore.
