While we didn't adopt from this shelter I was thoroughly impressed with the set up they had, the volunteers, and the environment the cats were in. I would highly recommend you adopt from them.

They help with turning coolers into cat houses and I really appreciate that. However, when I reached out in need of help with an emergency feral situation, they responded in an email and weren't very helpful. Which was disappointing because I was able to rehome the feral to its forever home BECAUSE of the cooler homes. I'd love to see someone in charge of emergency fostering for ferals and the initiative being taken there because when you search help with ferals in Grand rapids, this is the top place that comes up. I'd like someone to call and make it feel like they personally care and it's not just a job to them. Otherwise. I appreciate the services I assume.they do provide otherwise!

Gina was so incredibly helpful in my attempts to help rescue a scared and left behind cat. I couldn’t have got this kitty to safety without her. Their cats receive such great care, I would 100% adopt from them! Truly people who care!

Focus on Ferals was such a huge blessing to me. I found myself a single parent trying to care for a cat that was terrified and left behind. I had no idea what to do because the cat was so scared, I was desperately looking for help. Gina was the first person to respond to me in my attempts to get help. She quickly offered a trap and support as the cat was a tricky one to trap. The cat is safe and healthy all thanks to Gina and I could not be more thankful! They are so very much for their animals and if I am ever in a place to be able to adopt a pet, FOF will 100% be my choice!

Absolute blessing of a place. Hardworking dedicated people, without a doubt one of the best rescues in the area. I adopted the sweetest boy from them. Thank you so much for all you do!

Wanted to help a feral Papa & a Mamma with 2 kittens. What a nightmare finding someone to entrust with this little family. Gina at FOF came thru', I patiently waited for space [remember 4 cats], caught them, then drove 2+ hours to deliver them. Worth every moment...the FACILITY was amazing...the care at intake was wonderful...knowing they would be lovingly looked after and receive needed medical attention until adoption was an emotional relief. After 9 weeks a sad but joyful moment. It's obvious that The CATS COME FIRST at FOF ... They have so many magnificent FURRIES for adoption ... for every one adopted another place opens up for a second cat to be saved. I highly recommend finding your forever furry HERE!Thanks to the whole team at Focus On Ferals for your dedicated work.As you can see Papa needed medical help and I couldn't handle him.

We called this place to help a stray feral cat that we've seen out in the back field over the last decade or so that decided to choose our driveway to come die in. When we found the cat it was stiff and appeared close to death. We didn't know what to do for this cat. We just had to bury my father in law and my grandmother and my son is getting married in three days. Money is NOT something we have. That didn't stop the judgement from FOF who didn't help us at all when we called them that morning. FOF said "take the cat to a vet to be put down if it's dying." assuming we had resources to do so. WE DONT! That's why we called them. If we could have afforded a vet WE WOULDN'T HAVE NEEDED TO CALL THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! Instead they said "We are not an emergency vet and unfortunately I work a regular job all day". So where does that leave our options? None! They were the only hope to help this stray cat pass. And they flat out said no to our request for help that morning. We asked all the neighbors if it was theirs, they've all seen it around but nobody knows whos' it is. We all had empathy and compassion for it but there was no "saving" this cat, it was in active death. Because the cat was stiff and very close to a rigor mortis state we decided to comfort it inside a blanket padded box and were allowing it to die a natural death instead of taking it in to the vets to be euthanized. FOF called back SEVERAL HOURS LATER (about 6.5 hours later) to check to see if we took the cat to have it put down. When we told her no but that it was very very close to death she got irate with us for not taking it in to be euthanized "humanely". (Since when is an animal dying naturally on it's own inhumane?) Then this lady was rude as hell from that point on and didn't listen to a word we said. She drew her own conclusions pretty much calling us liars and accusing us in not so many words on SOCIAL MEDIA of abandoning the cat. She accused us of not taking ownership or responsibility of it on their FOF facebook page. She was splashing their page with slanderous liable accusations that flat out aren't true. I took pictures of all of their comments and am going to be contacting my attorney because we did try to help this feral cat by calling FOCUS ON FERALS but... six and a half hours later they were finally willing to help when they called back to see if we euthanized it and we told them no we were allowing it to die naturally! After a very heated discussion we reluctently brought it to them but we were not happy leaving the cat with that rude lady who didn't seem to want to listen to any facts about it. We called them for help and only got a bunch of attitude. First on facebook, FOF lied and said it was a fixture at our home... IT ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT AND WE CAN PROVE THAT! Then when others were commenting they were feeding additional lies about us that were presumed and assumed and without merit. We tried to do the right thing and when we called FOF for help, THEY WERE RUDE, CRUDE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL then slandered us on FB.

A great place that truly puts the cat first. Each and every cat has a fighting chance. They know they are loved! Great place to adopt from, donate to or even volunteer at. Very clean and well cared for. Truly making a difference in the community and lives of our cats.

True to their name, their focus is on the wellbeing of the cats. I adopted one cat through them and had a great experience, and they helped me get in touch with the right people when another stray found us one day who has complex medical issues. They provide a great service to the community while doing right by the animals.

We have had an influx of strays in the area that I live in the past couple of years. I had no idea what to do and honestly felt hopeless about how to handle everything until someone online mentioned reaching out to Focus on Ferals. They have helped us with supplying traps and taking in cats getting them fixed and even finding some of them homes. I am so grateful that we have such a wonderful, knowledgable place right here in Byron Center.

I appreciate the desire to sterilize feral cats and we needed to control the cat population in our barn so I brought our 2 tamest kittens in to get sterilized and ear tipped. I was especially fond of one kitten that had adorable playful mannerisms. She would purr before I even touched her and loved to be held. Our kittens spent 23 days at FOF supposedly because they needed antibiotics before surgery. When we came to pick them up they had received vaccinations and micro chipping that we didn't request and no ear tipping. But the heartbreaking part is now our kitten is so frightened of all humans it won't let me get near her. I only catch a glimpse of her when I feed that cats before she scrambles to hide. I literally can't even catch her to check if she is in pain or what is going on. I could cry when I think of what she must have gone through to create such a drastic fear of humans. Yes, FOF is all volunteers, bless their hearts. but no one could/would explain to me what happened. I just wanted to share my story so others can be aware. I'll be going to C-Snip from now on.
