I was told I could bring my seventeen-year-old dog in to be euthanized. They were going to do it for free, but then they reneged and refused to let me go back and see it be done unless I paid. This was after they had already put his IV and stuff in. Then it took an uncomfortably long amount of time to do the deed, and he had a huge grimace on his face when he was returned. So who's to know how his last moments were? I don't recommend going here.
I should have paid. I regret it but I felt completely blindsided and because I was told it would be free I didn't have any cash on me.
They also kept calling him a girl even after being told it was a boy many, many times. Read into that what you will.
Edit: Lol at the reply from the vet. It took them over a month to say we were overburdened and lied to you which really doesn't make sense. I was in within 15 minutes of my phone call and I couldn't see a single client. But hey we were overburdened and lied to you is a good excuse to them. Avoid this place.

This was bar far, hands down, the best place I've ever taken a pet to. We ended up taking our Buddy there early on a Sunday morning with swelling of 1 front leg and belly. Within a couple hours they sadly, although we were grateful to finally know, that he had a lime size mass in his chest along with at least 1 enlarged lymph node. They were very honest with us and did not pressure us to go to the next step which would have been a CT scan. They respected our decision to take him home and try Prednisone and a painkiller. Tragically, the steroids only reduced the swelling for about 2 days and the edema came back with a vengeance. After watching him deteriorate very quickly we decided that rather than take him back to our regular vet (where he would have been muzzled) we went back to OVRS to put him to rest. They were so kind and so compassionate with both buddy and my husband and I when we said goodbye ? I would recommend them to anyone.

I had both of my bouviers at OVRS within two weeks of each other. I am beyond grateful for the care they both received. The vets and the staff are phenomenal!! They were so kind and understanding. I felt we were the only ones they had to care for. Could not ask for better care.

I tried to give this place a second chance, waste of my time. My dog injured himself and they quoted me a ridiculous price over the phone that I could not afford ($2K). I waited a couple days stressing about the cost and just cared for the injury with my mom (a nurse)'s guidance but decided it should be professionally addressed. I called back and they basically told me it was going to be more expensive since I waited. They also told me to call an urgent care instead (thought emergency and urgent were the same, guess not?) I have worked in customer service my whole life so I can tell when someone is giving me the "I don't want to deal with this so let's make every excuse" treatment.
I do have to say the first woman I talked to was nice and told me about my options for financing, once I was transferred and talked to some one consulting the "surgeon" they couldn't have cared less about trying to help me while in tears.
For reference, my first trip there was a couple years ago when my other dog was severely quilled by a porcupine. We waited from 10pm to 4am to even be seen!! She was put under, cut open and sewn shut on her front shoulder area. Bill was around $800. I had to come back SEVERAL TIMES because they missed multiple quills. I had to make a fuss in order to have them remove the missed quills. put an awful taste in my mouth about them but I was willing to try again. My mistake.
Save yourself the hassle and call Blue Pearl! very nice and helpful. open 24/7 emergency AND urgent LOL

They only care about $. They want more than1000.00 to remove staples rather than write a letter to my groomer that it's ok to wash my service dog. They said bathing won't affect his staples but refuse to just state that in a letter

Outstanding service!!! We brought our dog here for a puncture wound on 9/28/2024. All of the staff members were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. Dr Williams was very thorough and professional. He took great care of our dog. Hope to never need another ER vet visit, but if we do we will definitely be coming here. Thank you!!!

Took my cat in because she was vomiting. Was there 4 hours. They didn’t do much outside of X-rays and lab work. I demanded they give my cat back so they did after some argument. The worst of it all they charged me $996.00. , I’m never going back there ever. (TOTALY RIPED OFF) WLS

I was referred to OVRS through my local veterinary clinic after my beloved golden retriever was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. I was very overwhelmed with emotions and decisions regarding next steps on treatment options. Dr. Ottnod and the entire staff at OVRS really took the time to explain options and make me feel confident in my decision on how to best care and treat my girl. I recently have had some financial hardships and Dr. Ottnod explained to me a grant program that they offer to help offset some of the financial burden for the cancer treatment. The application was easy and the determination was very quick. It truly was a relief to have that available to me during this time.
Thank you Dr. Ottnod and Jim Thompson for all of the kindness and compassion during this time. I know my girl is in good hands.

When our dog started fainting, we realized the problem was more severe than we initially thought. Our primary vet referred us to OVRS, a decision that proved crucial. Our beloved pet was diagnosed with IMHA and spent 13 days in the OVRS ICU fighting the illness. Despite the facility being 1.5 hours away, we found comfort in knowing she was receiving top-notch care. OVRS kept us informed daily with photos and status updates, which eased our worries significantly. Thanks to their expertise and dedication, our dog was stabilized and could come home. She continues to fight the illness, but thanks to OVRS, she now has a chance at recovery. I wholeheartedly recommend OVRS to anyone seeking advanced veterinary care.

Although our first time at OVRS ended with heart break and devastating results. The staff at ORVS were the most loving and caring people I’ve ever encountered. Dr. Beach, Cassi, and Stewart are angels on earth, our family wouldn’t have been able to get through the passing of our sweet Rosie Girl, without their love and support. Although I hope whoever is reading this never has to experience or make the choice we did, to let our sweet girlie go, but if you do…ORVS will care for you and walk with you along the process. No pressure, no rushing, just patience, listening, and lots of love and support. We will never forget them or the kindness they showed our Rosie and our family. May God bless them always and continue to guide them while helping every animal and human who seeks their help.

Was told $360 to put down my dying cat; was told an additional $120 if I wanted to cremate or etc…. So the same price as an in home euthanization. Absolutely insane. 0 compassion if you’re animals dying just wallets wide open here.

As it turns out, the dog I adopted is a top-notch escape artist. The first day I had her, she slip her collar and seat belt and took off. I found her on the side of the road after she had been hit by a car. After a visit to an emergency vet, I was referred to OVRS. We had our initial appointment with Dr. Retallack. I did visit a few other surgical facilities, but ultimately, I decided to use OVRS. The surgical team was so kind. The answered all of my ridiculous questions and gave me tissues when I cried before her surgery. We just got back from her 2-week checkup, and I couldn't be happier. Her recovery is going great. As a bonus, they provided a list of organizations that give grants to animals in need of medical care.

Was recommended here by a family friend who recently lost her dog. I ended up having to make the painful decision to put my dog down due to health issues and I will say that I couldn’t have felt more supported with the staff and doctors there. From the bottom of my heart, all the staff and doctors who were present Sunday night, thank you so much for interacting with my dog, myself, and my family in such a professional manner. No one wants to make the decision I had to make but I am absolutely satisfied and grateful to have been in an environment that was comforting and positive.
Thank you so very much!
