Always love my time with Kristina. I really like McKinley - very informed and a great scrub/massage.Front desk staff top notch as well. Heck, even the lady who cleans the salon is a joy to see each time I come in.

I made an appointment with Sophie for highlights, haircut, and toner. She made sure I understood each step and plan we discussed before beginning. We discussed a different haircut type and she explained everything to me so I was able to confidentially make a decision. Although I chose to stick with my normal haircut, I now have the knowledge of what I could do in the future! Sophie was originally a recommendation to me a year or so ago and I can see why! I was searching for a great hair stylist for a while, and I am willingly driving over an hour to come see Sophie. Her and her assistant went to every length to make sure I was comfortable and received the service we talked about. I could not be more happy with how my hair turned out, thank you!

Rebecca was amazing! She made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire visit. She also made sure I was happy with everything and gave me tips and tricks to style my new hair! My hair turned out exactly how I wanted it to!

I have been a client of Figo Salon for many years. The service that I received 15-20 years ago versus today has significantly declined and I will not be returning. Today, I saw Sophie for root touch up and pull-through (all over color). I expressed that I would love to do a dark brown with some red in it and she said that because of the fact I had done an all over brown box dye she did not feel comfortable putting red all over my head. I tried to express I just wanted a brown with red in it but she insisted that if I wanted red at all, I would have to reschedule so she could use bleach to lift my color. I said forget it and settled for all over brown. It looks fine. My blowout was done by Brea and she did a fine job but it's uncomfortable when two people blow dry your hair, but again, it's okay. When scheduling my appointment I made it very clear that I did not want any pricing surprises. The salon director told me that the color would be $88 plus $12 for pull through. All good. I get to the desk to pay and my total comes to $133. I told the girl checking me out that I was quoted $88 plus $12. She told me that it was $76+$12 for color and then $45 for a blowout. I let her know I was never told that a blowout was a separate price. The salon director overheard and came over to assist. To me, she already appeared visibly annoyed. She let me know that services are ala carte and blowouts are not included with color only haircuts. I reminded her I had explicitly asked for pricing and she asked, "Did you ask for total amount?" I did in fact ask so she said she was going to re-listen to our phone conversation. She comes back and says that since I booked over a month ago the call had been deleted. I told her I was not going to pay for the blowout and she said if that was the case I was never welcome back into the salon. I expressed to her that that indeed seemed very unfair. At this point, I asked if instead of paying for the blowout today, if I could forego my blowout on Thursday when I was scheduled for a haircut. She did not allow me to do that either. I have never tried to get out of paying anything at this salon and over the years my family has spent thousands at this establishment. I paid the full amount of $133 and went down the street to book a haircut appointment at a different salon. I canceled my appointment at Figo for the future and I will not be returning. After all these years to be treated like this is an embarrassment, Figo, not to mention the "salon director" tried to shame me for not being happy with my services. Figo used to be the best salon in Michigan but clearly they don't value their longstanding clients and can afford to lose them. There are plenty of high-end salons in Birmingham and I highly suggest trying one of them over Figo.

I usually don’t ever right negative reviews, but I hope that this review is taken as constructive criticism.I brought my little sister to get a blowout with Nicole, and I had high expectations. Nicole was unable to perform a very basic bouncy blowout. Since Nicole has a cosmetology liscence I expect her to have professionalism and put effort into each one of her clients. My little sister came out with pin straight hair, which is not what I asked for. Then when we addressed our concerns, we were not taken seriously & they suggested that they curl her hair with a curling wand for an extra $10. This is again NOT what we asked for. Please listen to your clients, it was a very simple task- a blowout can be done by blow drying the hair with a brush and leaving the round brush in the hair to cool. Any basic salon is able to do this.Nicole, unfortunately we will not be coming back here due to this experience, but I hope you take these concerns seriously to prevent you from losing any more of your clients.
