I rated the room and location as 3 stars because, whilst both were very nice, our corner suite facing Woodward Ave, was extremely loud at night. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the noise from nearly every car having a loud glass-pack muffler, went on until 3AM. I realize that this is not the hotel's fault, but hotel management needs to engage with the Birmingham police department to address this issue. Service gets 4 stars because, whilst most every service offering is well executed and staff are very helpful, there were no disinfecting wipes in the fitness center for the 5 days I stayed there. Even after alerting both front desk staff and the fitness center attendant about the issue, it was not addressed. I would think that after day two, someone on staff would have just gone to CVS and bought some Lysol wipes and put them in the fitness center, but no. Gross! At $400/night, I doubt that I would stay here again.

Specifically booked non accessible suite. Most expensive room available. Email hotel and tell them I will arrive late and to not give away my room. Hotel replies and confirms.
I arrive, hotel gave away my room and puts me in an accessible room. Hotel refuses to do anything about it. Someone else’s name was on my tv so that person complained and they gave him my room.
If you want to run a holiday inn, then don’t charge me $700 a night.
Staff incompetent like all the other bad reviews. They do not know how to properly deal with the clientele they want to sell to.
Moved to the Townsend. Never coming back.

Rooms: Spacious, elegant, fridge and coffee. Beautiful shower and comfy mattress. Robes too!
Walkability: Perfect location in downtown Birmingham

Guests are required to use the $40 overnight valet service (as well as pay a $30 "Service Charge" that is added to the bill and never explained), but when I got in my car to leave for my 3-hour road trip, I was nauseated by the smell of cigarettes. The valet who collected my car must have been a heavy smoker because the car reeked for the rest of the day. The smell was not from cigarette smoke--it was from the body and clothing of the valet. Someone on the management team should be aware that car owners would be offended by the odors left behind from a heavy smoker. Not what I would expect at a top-rated hotel.

Really nice. Work had me up here. Had the chicken sandwich for lunch. It was good. Coffee in morning was ok, but they gave me a free copy of the WSJ so I felt more important than I really am. The mechanical horse in the lobby mechanics-. Try it out
Rooms: Niceest work hotel room I have gotten in a while

Awful hotel for families. Not friendly at all, we were asked to leave lobby with our children so people who come to spend a few dollars on drink could have seating space and we can’t be with children in the lobby. No soave for hotel guests in a lobby in the evening!!! I have never seen such a thing. How ridiculous to mistreat guests like that that pay $300-500 per night to stay at the hotel with not even a pool. Definitely would not come back here with children at least. Bring this point to the management and they could care less. So disappointing

Every detail was meticulous. I loved Jay, the valet, the front desk, the snacks, the customer service, the cleanliness. I have rarely stayed anywhere that I could rave about the quality of every aspect.
Rooms: Clean and pretty
Walkability: A multitude of shops

I would not recommend doing a hotel block here for your guests. They are very petty with charges. I brought them guests and business! but then they want to charge me for passing out welcome bags even though previously never mentioned a charge when I dropped them off. I would choose the Townsend over this hotel, the service is so much better and they don’t charge for welcome bags.

The hotel was modern, elegant, classic; our room was spacious and well appointed, beautiful fixtures and superb attention to detail. Highly recommend. Excellent coffee shop and restaurants in the area.

Very comfortable rooms. Loved the Pantry where we could get 2 a.m. snacks. Friendly helpful service at every level. We attended a wedding celebration, and the venue was excellent. Loved the life-size photos and the table-sized charcuterie board.
