“I went to Lowe's today needing wood and stain for a Christmas sign I want to make. The employee in the paint section listened to what I wanted to do and gave me a lot of options eventually tinting a stain for me. It is perfect! I then had another employee help me find the perfect piece of wood. I was in and out of the store in 15 minutes with all of the supplies I needed. I am very thankful for their help.”
“Another interesting business, that over the years has made increasingly good quality products for cheap prices: China. Harbor Freight has cheap tools with limited life-time warranties. Today, day 3-of-4 of a 4 day Memorial Day weekend sale allowed me to buy 1 item 25% off (per customer, per day - I’ll be back tomorrow). I bought a Quinn Master Impact 3/8’s Socket Set with extensions and various adapters. With sockets running metric and SAE from 8mm to 19mm, and 7/32 to 3/4. Short and deep well sockets. It was originally priced at 109.99 before 6% sales tax. I walked out the door with it, after tax, for $87.44 and I’m so pumped! I have grown up, alongside my dad using Snap-On, SK, Craftsman, and other tools brands with great satisfaction. In my dad’s retired years, he uses Harbor Freight and they’re almost as good for less than half the price with a surprisingly great warranty policy. Not that many months ago, I brought in a broken and faded 3/8 swivel ratchet for my dad - they questioned it only for a little bit because the color was off due to sun damage. Once I grabbed a matching, new ratchet off the rack and showed them they were exactly the same everything, they brought me back to the counter; with a printed off replacement receipt and new ratchet in-hand, out the door I walked, impressed. Thanks Harbor Freight, and Eric Smidt.”
“I purchased paint and other items this morning. I normally shop at the Reed City Ace, but they didn't have all I needed in stock so I went to the Big Rapids Ace. Donovan, the store manager, helped me today. His professionalism, knowledge, and efficiency in serving me was outstanding! Ace would seriously benefit from having an individual like him at the Reed City store, where my experience with customer service could be improved.”
“My husband and I shopped at the Big Rapids store. The customer service was outstanding! All employees were helpful and eager to help. We were approached several times asking if we needed help etc.
Jacqueline helped us find the right power tool we needed and also showed us the sales they had going on with power tools.
Connelly helped us load our trailer, we had also purchased larger items, sheets of underlayment, toilet etc.
Tina was our cashier, she was friendly, courteous and also very helpful.
The customer service we received was top notch and I wanted to give credit to these great employees for their kindness, helpfulness and knowledge. Going that extra mile with your customers is where it's at these days.

“Staff was super friendly and helpful. Prices were pretty good, especially when combined with their rebate promotion. My only complaint was some of the product organization. Door hinges were by hardware rather than where they used to be, by the doors, but sign still said hinges on door parts area. Also, in the plumbing section, so many fittings were in wrong spots, and some of the groupings of similar part types were not next to each other which made it a little challenging to locate what we needed.”
