“Stopped by and shopped twice recently to look for various house plants and pots and this place is a hidden gem! It have a diverse selection and their staff really knows their stuff. Prices are on the higher end but fair for what I expected for a greenhouse like this. Definitely a go to for someone looking for a specific type of plant or more harder to find plants!”

“This garden store was amazingly beautiful. The rows of plants reached farther back then my group ventured, and everything was so lush--lots of happy plants. My family and I had stopped here just to burn some time before meeting others for dinner nearby, so I was mostly window-shopping. There is at least one cat, and he was very friendly. He seems to have a very comfy bed/perch near the gift shop. I'm dropping a star for the way the door into the gift shop closed unpredictably; my finger got closed in the frame, which really hurt. (I'm ok! But I don't know whether it was a fluke or something that actually happens more often than it should.)”

“Timely, courteous, priced right, great mulch. I just had 5 yards of mulch delivered, and this is the good stuff. Watch out for others that drop off dyed chips they call mulch. Main’s is top notch triple shredded with a great natural-like color. Looks beautiful!!Driver was accommodating and friendly as was the woman who took my order and graciously took my next two calls to rearrange a drop off time. I’m coming back here!”

They asked what the issue was and asked for documentation of the damaged product and agreed to send a replacement. In this day and age when someone doesn't reply to your email don't give up and rip em. Call and explain that it's frustrating and let the business rectify the issue. You have my business George.”

“I bought two big potted inpatients for my very shaded porch and one is not doing well compared to the other. Both were watered on Friday and today, one is very wilty looking. The price was so much cheaper than English Gardens which thr same planter was priced at $52.99 So of course, Home Depot was way less expensive at $18.99. However, if one plant dies, well them it won't be quite as inexpensive.”

“Responded to the quote request fairly quickly in the beginning of summer ((May'23). Needed to lock the install date quickly because their schedule fills up really quick, and you'd better answer the call when they call to confirm the install date 1-2 days prior or you'd be dropped from the list and need to re-schedule. But this is to show you that they lay fresh sods. This morning they completely gutted the old awful grass I had, layered new soil before laying the new sods. The 190 yards front-lawn project was done in 3 hours include clean-up. My lawn had never been more beautiful than it is now. Thanks Michelle, Bill and Westlake crew. Fair price for a job well done. Will update in 2 weeks, after the first cut, on the status.Update 10/3/23: first cut two weeks ago and 2nd cut yesterday. The grass is healthy and the lawn is most beautiful in the sub !! new pic added. Thanks Westlake Sod !!”

“Really cool little store. The doors are always open and they have a store dog and cat that hangs around. Staff are very helpful! I monthly go in to get two bags of chicken feed, and an employee has always helped me load it into the truck. They may not be as talkative as a regular retail store, but the customer service is always on point. Gives a sort of country general store vibe, and I dig it!”

“I was surprised by how many negative reviews were listed. My daughter and I stopped by Sunday afternoon for the 1st time. She loved the kitty that visited with us while we walked around. The owner was pleasant and more then willing to chat with us as he checked us out. We found some beautiful mumms! There is a smaller selection here as this is a smaller business, but we will definitely come back.”

“After visiting 3 other grow stores in the metro Detroit area, I've had the best experiences with Northern Lights. Like others have mentioned, they're one of the only spots carrying Build A Soil and other organic amendments. I went to another shop in the area yesterday when NL was closed, and that shop told me everything they carry is organic (its all liquid salt based ferts lol). NL won't push products on you, and the only thing you'll complain about is that they're not open on Sunday”

Prices are reasonable, especially with sales or coupons, and the staff was VERY eager to help answer questions, suggestions, and care tips to support my purchases. “I really want to give 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up. They have a lot of the same plants this place in Waterford has, but they charge twice the price. The guy there was helpful and he seemed very knowledgeable. However, he was a bit too helpful. It's almost like he didn't want to let my mom and I out of his sight. I didn't want to leave empty handed, so I grabbed a wild berry cone flower from outside the gate and was headed back in. Before I could even fully make it back into the entrance, here comes the guy headed in our direction. It just seemed a bit odd how we couldn't feel free to look around without him popping up all over the place.My rating is strictly based on their flower selection and high prices. Even though my mom also noticed that he was always present, I have no proof that he is prejudice.”
