I called to get 2 tires in the middle of a winter storm. Guy said "we're closed". Then said nevermind what you need? I said 2 tires of x size. He said we have them and I said great. I drove 15 minutes to find the guy pulling off as I pulled in and not answering the phone. Door locked. I would've given -5 stars had I been able to

I want to start with the fact that I would have given 0 stars but I had to give them at least 1. We have gone here for years for tires. They had been great, helpful, affordable and everyone seemed genuinely nice. We have used them 3 times with our current vehicle. They only had the tire in stock the first time. So, the 2nd time I purchased the tire and I took it to them to put it on. My husband works at a factory and he accidentally got a piece of metal in the front passenger side tire. We called them, they didn't have the correct size, not a big deal at all. My husband went this last Saturday and bought a tire from Belle Tire for a little over $65. He then took the tire over to Fair Avenue Tire like we had the time before. He sat in the car, in the garage, as they mounted it and whatnot. He heard a loud pop but didn't think it had to so with our tire because no one made him aware of any issues putting the tire on. He got home, without hitting anything, and saw that there was an appropriate grapefruit size knot bulging from the new tire. He immediately called Fair Avenue Tire, 2:40 pm on a Saturday, no one answered his calls even though they should be open until 3 pm. So, he put the doughnut back on the car and had to wait until Tuesday when they opened to talk with them. Tuesday morning he went to Fair Avenue Tire to talk to them about what had happened. At first, they were very helpful. Then, they realized that the tire was purchased from Belle Tire and brought to them to mount. The woman he spoke to said he needed to speak to the man who had mounted our tire. My husband went into the garage to speak with him. My husband was hit with a heavy smell of alcohol when he started talking to the man. The man was rude and acted as if he thought this was a tad funny. He told my husband that the only way to know if it was a tire defect was to take it off the rim, my husband asked if they would do that. The man told him he would for 5 bucks. We are now out the initial cost of the tire and must purchase another one and have it mounted. When my husband had got home that Saturday and discovered the bulge he began to let air out. There was initially close to 42 pounds of pressure in that brand new tire. This, unfortunately, blew our inner tube and destroyed the tire.I understand that the tire was not sold to us by them. But, we did put trust in them that they would mount the tire without destroying it. We live on a budget and have to carefully allocate money to pay everything. $65 is a lot to have to spend again. So, after year's of getting our business and our recommendations they wanted to treat a mistake they made as a joke. My husband was polite and courteous through the entire interaction. I'm not exactly sure what we were expecting, but it was not to be treated rudely over a mistake they made. I hope that the gentleman who mounted our tire is at the very least retrained. He could get hurt over filling a tire like that.
