I have been shopping at Plato’s Closet since Middle School. But recently I have experienced levels of discomfort in the Ann Arbor store. The environment is extremely unpleasant, poor customer service and attitude. I’m a high school student and a lot of the employees are my age/older. I frequently shop for sizes L-XL and size 14-16 pants. Every time there is SUCH a poor selection. (Most of it being clearance). I have brought this up to store employees and was told how it isn’t sold often. Which is silly to me. I am an average size in clothing. The store seems to cater to a certain demographic. which is small/pettite people. It’s infuriating. Also! Please lower prices on SHEIN items… the upcharge for poorly made clothes is insane to me.

Always happy to make a special trip here when we are in Michigan. They always have the BEST selection and friendly sales associates. Definitely give them 5 stars!

Great prices, great selection of clothes and shoes, and friendly employees. I have also sold items here and usually get a fair price. When they have sales it's very busy!

Unfortunately I will no longer give this a go. The first time I attempted to drop off a bag of 10 or less items, it was over a 3 hour wait… Totally understand the demand is out of one’s control. Attempted again, and was offered $12! Items included Alo, Lululemon, Northface, Polo etc. most items had been owned less than 3 months and maybe worn once.Incredibly confused what they are looking for? This is not the fault of staff so I tried to simply understand and could tell she was just as at a loss and then pointed out that maybe it was the light mark on the Alo pants- It was a piece of fuzz? (I feel they are trained to do this) lol . Again, not her fault so I didn’t want to press or make her uncomfortable.WASTE OF TIME. Not worth the effort. at.all….P.S. For saying they want to only intake styles that are ‘new’ but the items in the store are extremely outdated makes NO SENSE.P.S.S Since they are willing to still keep your items for donation, is possible they still utilize but just don’t pay?Seriously disappointing.

You wait hours for them to barely look at your clothes and then offer you $0.75. If you actually want to get paid, sell your stuff online.

I'm deeply disappointed with my experiences at Plato's Closet, particularly at the Ann Arbor location. Despite their signs promoting inclusivity, I've encountered Islamophobia and racial bias during my visits. It's disheartening to receive cold greetings when wearing my religious attire. I've tried to continue selling items here, but the combination of racial biases and religious intolerance is unacceptable. I hope the management addresses these issues to truly reflect the inclusivity they claim to uphold.

I honestly believe they are racially biased when it comes to what they accept from people. I’ve been to this store plenty of times and have seen the items they sell there yet my things always get turned down and the explanation of why they don’t keep the things it becomes absurd. We don’t want neon colors, yet there’s neon all around the store. The shoes aren’t in the best condition, yet you have shoes that are the most worn down on display. Everything I bring is in fairly good condition yet nothing is ever taken and I’m convinced it’s because I’m African American if you couldn’t tell by now. The last time I came in I was told they won’t take Fashion Nova or Shein but my friend brought the same item brands and they were accepted… and no she wasn’t African American. This organization is quite skeptical to me. I would give them 0 stars if I could because I feel it is beyond inconsiderate with how they handle business there.

Nice clean store, great employees, perfect teen clothing shop. My daughter loved it. The only downside I think is that it's a bit small and most the items they had were on the trendy/hipster style end of the fashion spectrum or athletic wear. I would like a few more timeless styles but maybe that's just my old self talking...teens seemed happy with the selection. Above average pricing for resale but worth it I think as clothes are in great shape and most looked hardly worn. Definitely saved money going there.

I absolutely LOVE Plato’s closet!!!! Every time I go I never leave empty handed and the people working there are truly so sweet and helpful! They always make me feel welcome and they always somehow find a way to compliment me! 10/10 customer service!! I am so impressed!I turn sixteen in 3 months and when I do I’ll be sure to apply! My only thing is that I feel like while it’s great to have certain things labeled as summer or Michigan (no complaints there!) I personally feel like (this might be too much work so no worries!) it would be even better if the clothes were separated by style and aesthetic!! I personally have more of a alt style and it’s a little hard to find my exact style. But that just means they have so many great things to offer!Me and my friends ALWAYS find the things we need but It sometimes takes a minute.100% recommend Plato’s Closet!!! Worth every cent!!

I came here two years in a row with my daughter to get her clothes on her birthday. We normally only shop at Value World & Once Upon a Child; this store is WAY cooler for the preteen/teen crowd. It has trendy, alternative, stylish, interesting clothes and the workers there match the style. Prices are great and we got several items on a Clearance sale. Only issue was that so many shirts were like half shirts/low-cut/lingerie, and some clothing had rips in it.
