interesting tour

Prior to visiting, we already had a number of Motawi tiles in our home and an appreciation for the detail and craft of each piece. After going on the tour of the entire operation, it's clear these folks are on another level - and it's quite humbling.
The tour itself was incredibly illuminating. Everyone we spoke with has a clear passion for the care and craft that goes into each piece. After the tour concluded, we spent some time evaluating discount pieces in the Boneyard, and wound up purchasing a number of fantastic pieces (full price and Boneyard discount).
Because we were traveling from out of town, we had our purchase shipped home, and everything arrived quickly, as expected.
If you find yourself anywhere near Detroit and have some time to drive over to Ann Arbor, and are remotely aware of Motawi Tileworks, you should absolutely make the trip.

They'll let employees of many years go with no warning over email. Not the kind of place I'll be spending my money at going forward.

Great experience at the factory tour. Tickets online for $5 per person. Afterwards, explore the gallery and boneyard to purchase beautiful ceramic tiles.

We took the group tour and it was really informational and interesting. Our tour guide took us to every department of the tile making process and kindly answered all questions.

Their gorgeous tiles make for unique decorating. I have several hung on a wall in my home, a display which I love. I can imagine how fabulous a fireplace, bathroom, or kitchen backsplash would be with a larger collection. They are pricey, but the quality and beauty make it feel worth the splurge.

What a gem. For decades the Tileworks has reliably produced tile art. So many beautiful designs. I like “the boneyard“ seconds. Always something good to find in there.
