These guys are great and saved the day for me. I was traveling in Ann Arbor and my car suddenly started making a terrible loud sound that felt unsafe (and I was trying to drive 500 miles back home). They were busy on a Friday and couldn’t look at the car until Monday so I took it to another establishment (Convenience Auto who ended up keeping the car until Monday anyway and doing $900 of unnecessary repairs). When I left this other establishment the car began making the noise again almost immediately. I pulled into Japanese Auto rather desperate. They were quickly able to diagnose the problem as a brakes issue and have the part fixed within a couple of hours. I was so relieved they had a great mechanic who could diagnose the problem quickly and correctly. Save yourself time and money and start with these guys. If they are booked, get on their schedule and wait.

I went here for 4 years during my time in grad school in Ann Arbor and always had as positive experience! Great work and very honest and never felt like I was getting “sold” something I didn’t need. Highly recommend to anyone in the Ann Arbor area!

Repeat customer – exceptional service every time. Brought my Lexus in for a brake repair at 8:30 am with no appointment, and it was returned to me by 9:30. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough.

That's my second time getting my car fixed there. The service is great. They fixed the car issues with over- charging. Honest people. Dave treats you like an old friend. Thank you Dave and the team. I will definitely come back again with car maintenance and repair, and will recommend them to my friends too.

Always great service from front of the house with Dave to the back! Mechanics are very thorough. Honest to work with from my experience for the past few years.
I was able to get my car in to have it looked it, even though it was somewhat last minute (apologies!). We arranged for service time in the same week. Communication was clear on timeframe needed.
This time around had my rear brake pads + engine filter replaced at a reasonable price, cheaper than the dealership. They have earned my trust! Super nice people!

There a little before my appt. They were already for my appt. First time here and already feel good knowing that maintenance was done by experts Dave was very nice answered questions I had about my car and price was less then what I paid at the dealership, highly recommend Japanese Auto Professionals!

Very poor communication and very expensive. Took my honda here to have brake replacements, was not told about "wait" appointments while scheduling (even after asking how long it would take because I would be waiting in the city) and was told to drop off at 9am. They didn't even look at my car til 1:30pm, and when I was finally spoken with about pricing, it was far above what I had been led to expect. So I spent most of day waiting, walking around in the cold because of their poor communication, and in the end couldn't even afford the work I had asked for. Very upset with the experience.

I brought my '13 Subaru Legacy to Japanese Auto Professionals to diagnose an electrical parasitism issue (car drains its own battery after being shut off, requiring it to be jumped); the team at Japanese Auto Pro's were reasonable, thorough and extremely knowledgeable about my car, and they also helped me figure out a low-cost workaround to keep my older car on the road. I would not bring my car back to Dunning Subaru's service dept (who I believe caused the issue) but I would definitely recommend and return to Japanese Auto Pro's Service.

I called Japanese Auto after my dealer quoted a price for replacing pads and rotors. It was expensive. Japanese Auto quoted a price that saved me 250$. The repair was top notch, everyone was pleasant and professional. I am very happy with the work and will be a repeat customer.Service: Brakes

Been coming here since I moved to Ann Arbor around 5 years ago and couldn't recommend this place more. They shoot straight, work fast, and have kept my car humming along beautifully.

Reading the reviews, sure sounds like the place I know -- honest, helpful, straight shooting, avoid unnecessary repairs -- trustworthy guys/place always. Dread the thought of them ever closing shop.
