I was charged around $300 more than I expected for my return! This does not concur with the office's signage about "transparent pricing." I feel like I was taken advantage of, and I'm a senior citizen living paycheck-to-paycheck.

I had great anxiety and fear with my taxes due to many factors. My preparer was thoughtful and courteous. She set me at ease and when we were done I felt confident in my choices.

I called ahead to make sure they did walk in’s (They did). When I arrived, I gave the reception my info and she went in the back to give in to one of the accountant’s. I heard the accountant go “Ughhhh”, like she was very annoyed. The receptionist came back and escorted me to the accountant (An older white lady), who was just really short with everything we was saying, she cut me off as soon as I started talking and said “wait, let’s just go over a couple things. First off, don’t run when you hear how much this costs”. ???? Then she asked me some questions about my taxes and priced me out. They way she said the price was like as if she expected that I couldn’t afford it and was going to argue about the price or something. She quoted me $250-$300. I said “ok”. That seemed totally reasonable to me, as that’s how much I paid an accountant last year.She then goes “Did you use an accountant last year?” And I said yes, and I swear to god, she goes “Are you sure you don’t just want to use them?” I said “Well, that guy ended up taking quite a while last time so I figured I go just come here and get it knocked out of the way, because I need the paperwork for a loan”. She goes “ok, let’s do this”, in a tone of basically being like “let’s get this over with”. She asked for my documents and we realize I’m missing something. I go “alright, I’ll have to go home and grab it” (At this point I was already not actually planning on coming back based off our how absolutely uncomfortable that whole transaction was and could not get out of there fast enough). She then goes “Well I’m booked for the rest of the day” and showed me her calendar on the computer. Which is fine, I understand. But if she was too busy to take me in the first place she could have just said that instead of that super awkward experience. I said “That’s fine. I’ll just come back another day” … I will in fact not be coming back another day. Lol. I gave an extra star because at least the receptionist lady was very nice.
