This is a great bank to open a checking and savings, whether you have little or a lot to deposit. I can earn 4% without having minimums, which no other bank ‘too big to fail’ can offer unless I have an enormous sum to give them. I can understand those who have trepidations moving away from the big banks, I personally prefer to diversify, and being old enough to have lived through the financial crisis; my first checking account changed bank names several times, but fortunately I always had the same tellers, and I always had my money. Otherwise I recommend BTC.Big shoutout to the team of bankers here at Flagstar on Washtenaw, Tia and Angela, and their regional mortgage specialist Jerad. I am impressed what they’ve been able to offer me in terms of yield and credit. If you need more from your bank, I highly recommend you visit them.

Please do not waste your time signing up for any sort of bank promotion with this Flagstar. I opened an account back in November and called multiple times making sure I met the requirements for the promotion. 90 days has came and went with the advertised requirements being met, and I still do not see the cash deposited. I finally call the branch today to see what is going on, as it has been months, but they gave me a runaround answer explaining how I suddenly did not meet the requirements. Incredibly disappointing, and to top it off, they shared that their reason they could not still move forward with the deposit is that they closely monitor their customers accounts to meet the requirements. Interesting that if they were doing so, they could have reached out before I didn’t meet their “additional requirements”.VERY POOR customer service.

This bank has a lot of very rude employees. I'm a teen trying to save money so I go every once in a while to either put a little cash in the savings account or a little out. They are extremely rude and act with contempt such as sighing and rolling eyes. When I went in to open a savings they still were not friendly or smiley at all. There was a younger gentleman my last visit who was polite and not a total j**** I don't know if this is how all banks are, I won't be coming back to this one.

This bank is so friendly and amazing. I never have any troubles whenever I go in there. They give me accurate answers and explain things well. They are also quick in what they do, and dont have you sitting or waiting for somebody to help you. I also feel safe as far as security goes. They have a different level of security than most banks/branches and it makes me feel safe as a customer. I would highly recommend this particular branch.

One of my Flagstar retirement accounts matured, so I went to Flagstar and asked them to roll it over into another Flagstar retirement account. Instead of recording it as a rollover, they recorded it as a distribution, which I learned when I filed my taxes. When I asked them to correct the error, they said, "You signed it!" It appeared that my income for that year was about $2000 more than it actually was (since that was the amount that was actually rolled over, since I never had it in any accessible account). This kicked me into a new tax bracket. After I had filed my taxes I had to refile them, claiming the $2000. I also had to pay my tax man to calculate what I owed and refile. Several years later I was audited by the IRS, who told me I owed them money over this. I pulled out the paperwork and proved that I had taken care of it. They were happy with me, and I was happy with them. I said to them, "It's a bad thing when you like the IRS better than you like your bank," and we had a good laugh at the expense of Flagstar. FLAGSTAR STINKS!!!
