Staff was less than friendly and the place is completely overrun by field trips. We paid for a full day pass and hardly had the opportunity to interact with a single exhibit for more than a few seconds. Bathrooms were not clean. Take your money elsewhere.
EDIT: see the response below, careful what time you go - apparently. They’re happy to take your $48 then proceed to tell you that you chose the wrong date/time and invite you to spend another $48 with them.

We just moved to the area and wanted to check out the hands on museum for our two kids. We went pretty early in the morning on a Saturday, they opened at 10 and we arrived around 10:20. We did have to pay for parking about three blocks away due to no available parking on the street but not a big issue. The museum was a great time for the kids. They super enjoyed the water area and the physics area. I would say the upper two floors are pretty hidden and not advertised as much and were pretty inactive for visitors other than us. We spent about three hours in the attraction and did purchase some items from the gift shop. I thought the gift shop prices were very reasonable. The price of membership was a little high but we had a discount so it was very reasonable. We definitely would go back!

I'm rating 4 star and not 5 because they have gone down hill. My last visit maybe 2 years ago was excellent! Everything was clean and working. This visit, not so much. Bathrooms were not as clean as they should have been. Some of the exhibits had obvious dust on them, which shows up in pictures unfortunately. Some of the exhibits didn't even work! Great museum in general, but they definitely need to do some cleaning and maintenance

This was our first time to be at Hands-on hands-on museum and our kids enjoyed it a lot. We took annual pass which costs around $160/ which is economical compared to one time entry of $16/person.Highly recommend to go for annual pass for family to save good amount of money.

This is a great place to take the kids! There were tons of things for my son to do! My only critique is that most of it seemed geared to an older crowd, maybe 8-10. My son, who is 5, had a hard time following the detail of many of the devices as they take a good amount of reading. He was able to do them, just didn't realy understand what he was doing and would lose interest as I was trying to read the text to him. They do have a preschool room, which was fine for him, but it took him all of 10 minutes to blow through all the activities in that room. Overall it was a great experience.

We have the family plus membership and we're using it a lot! It's nice to be able to bring guests with us. My kids, 4 and 1, both love the museum. Our top 3 favorites are the H2O, pre school area, and the ambulance. We avoided coming during special events such as winter break activities due to overcrowded visitors. We always try to come at 10, right when it opens, or later at 3pm, so it's quieter. That way the kids can explore more freely, and minimum to none waiting time.

I brought my kids, 8 and 4 here for a little trip at the end of their holiday break. It was a bit underwhelming. There was a lot of science and that was cool for me, but so many things were just “hit this button and watch it do something mediocre.” The kids ran through each exhibit so much faster than I expected because they didn’t understand it, couldn’t/didn’t want to read the description, or it was just a quick button or lever and didn’t capture their attention. There were some more interactive things but they weren’t so cool that it held their attention. They’d do it once and move on. I’d say there’s one, maybe two solid attractions per exhibit but every kid wanted to do that so there was a line and on our specific day, not all parents supervised line manners and it didn’t always go well. But it goes to show you, the rest of the stations are pretty underwhelming so they move through them super fast and just want the cooler ones. It was an hour drive so I was hoping it would be cool enough to be a full day trip. We honestly struggled to last 2 hours and by like 90 minutes my 8 year old and I were done but my 4 year old wanted to continue for a short time after.Cleanliness: pretty good, no complaintsAttractions: Just okay, kinda disappointingStaff friendliness: didn’t have many interactions but the one we did talk to was niceGift shop: ehhhh okay. Underwhelming

Very good hands on education for children that is well maintained and contains a variety of interactive tools/toys. Update, we've moved to Madison Wisconsin and the children's museum here is appalling and dull. Can you please become chain and build a new one here in Wisconsin? Sun Prairie is a nice and upcoming suburb of Madison to consider if property is too expensive in Madison. I'll help this endeavor in any way I can.
