We were passing through Alpena when we heard a rattling noise under the van. In the morning, I Googled a local car repair with good reviews. I found R Auto Repair to have 4.5 stars! I was glad they could accommodate us quickly due to our vacation trip! It was something minor and fixed in short order. I call that quality service with smile. ?
I highly recommend R Auto Repair for all your vehicle service needs!

Wouldn’t ever recommend someone go here for auto repairs. If I could’ve left 0 stars I would’ve. I got charged 170 for an alignment that was not even close to good and I was quoted 70-120. Another repair shop in town had it fixed for 60 bucks. I asked them fix a tire, they said it was leaking air, well it still leaks air so who knows if they even checked it. They also diagnosed an antifreeze leak. Since I was unhappy with their service, I took the car to another shop who fixed the leak and it wasn’t even what R auto said was the problem. They had the wrong diagnosis, but they charged me for the diagnostic test and encouraged me to change the gasket myself. It would’ve been a big job for no reason. It seems as this shop try’s to work over its customers. Integrity also seems to be lacking here.

I was three hours from home in Alpena when the starter just quit in my vehicle randomly. Stranded, and had to leave town the next morning. I called a few mechanic shops in the area- they either didn’t have an opening or took 2 days to call me back. Not R Auto though. They were so gracious and accommodating to my urgent situation. The team was incredibly knowledgeable and honest as well. It was a pleasure to work with them, and on the off chance I’m in Alpena, and my car breaks down again, I wouldn’t even waste my time going anywhere else. Best customer service ever!

Expensive improper diagnoses, wrong assumptions about brand new parts. Lied about position of car (sat out side for weeks told it was next up and inside for 2 weeks) than upon pick up was told to move out of his office "he needed space" rude for a LLC not worth the money or time.

After 3 conversations that my Duramax was deleted, (which is the only reason I was taking it to them, and not taking it to a dealership) this was made clear..they had me Tow it up there just to say he won't touch it bc it's deleted. Even though it's a fuel line and had nothing to do with emissions. Completely wasted my time and money. If you have a tuned truck don't take it there!

Running out of options and soon to be stranded due to a failing alternator, we were led to this incredible facility. Erica assured us they would get us in so we rented a car and drove to our home in Port Huron. The next morning we headed back to Alpena where our van was in the parking lot already fixed and ready to go! A beautiful facility with amazing staff! Thank you so much! Stacy and Ralph

Great reviews for good reason! Drove across the Mitten to get work done on my motorhome since they had the parts ordered already & I would do it again. Al & his team were professional, didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, and left me with a confidence in their work that I have never had for any other shop. Would definitely recommend and will return for future preventative maintenance. Thanks again for being so flexible and professional!

We were in town on a fishing trip and our truck broke down. They not only got us in immediately and repaired the vehicle, they drove us to the nearest boat launch and sent us out fishing while they repaired the truck! Highly recommended! Thank you gentlemen!

Charged $150 to change a cabin filter in my daughter's car. If I were asked, I would have looked myself, purchased the $40 filter and changed it myself.

By far the best mechanic I've ever used! He does a great job, his prices are fair and reasonable, he and the staff are all very nice and personable! He is always willing to help out however he can and does his best to get the vehicle fixed quickly and effectively and it usually is! I took my van there a couple of years ago and never went to another mechanic! I highly recommend them! Thank you to all the staff and owner of R auto repair for always helping out and going above and beyond!
