When I came into the store last week, I was viscously accosted by new appearing employee Otto who came running out of nowhere to scream, "I saw you on the cameras!" repeating it as his main assertion and privacy violation for a regular shopper who has spent thousands there over the past several years. "You were spraying the primer spray paint on the floor!" Mom and I were taken aback and he looked infuriated, seething and staring at me menacingly, then sneering. I observed his red eyes which I told him was because he was an angry man. I told him never was a warning given, my Mom added no note was there to indicate not to. She told him, perhaps next time you can give her a piece of cardboard to spray on so she knows the nozzle is working. He agreed verbally to do this next time. I told him that not even one time did I not purchase one of those cans which happened to be working. Last year, I had one or two returns when some nozzles were not at a critical time. Mom and I were very upset by his hostile encounter, she was indignant and outraged that he didn't ask politely but confronted me in such an abusive manner, and we shopped for the next cans of primer at Walmart where we observed other testers had made a sea of marks on the floor also testing them out. Instead of the agreement made by Otto, the store violated me again as I walked in the store today and was called out by the female manager Mikki at the register. She also repeated, "you were caught on camera!" angrily. She said I sprayed spray paint on the floor and was not allowed in the store anymore. She added, the police would be called. I promptly called the national number to report the situation and let her know a lawsuit of rights violation would be submitted along with this negative review. Not even one warning was given. Otto provided one and we agreed to abide by it. Otto also agreed to provide a piece of cardboard next time and did not hold to his arrangement to provide further neglect of duty. This goes along with inappropriate interactions with the customer and lack of being the friendly neighborhood hardware folks they used to pose as. I will upload a snippet of my lawsuit when finished. This Ace should pay for my gas as I'm forced to go to the downtown Ace Hardware and I should be allowed to shop at the local hardware store convenient for me.

Lawn mower blade sharpening. Despite the mower having 2 blades I believe they counted it as one unit. Comes out to about half price of purchasing new and this store is a convenient location for me.

Great staff. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. My daughter and I went in with a metal table leg that got bent by mistake looking for tools to straighten it and the employee was so nice he took it in the back and bent it back to shape for us. Also helped us with a million questions in the paint department. Everyone we met was very helpful and attentive.

Had an awful, mind-numbingly dumb experience. Service had been good, but one day, I was buying hardware for cable and they (2 different people) wouldn't let me cut a short piece of 1/8" cable because I hadn't bought it there. I then saw the clipper was hanging by their cable spool so I cut my piece anyway, bought my hardware, and left. I was kind of in shock over the stupidity of it. That was three months ago, and I will never go back. I can wait a couple days for Amazon, which is usually much cheaper anyway. Wanted to give 1 star, but they were helpful in the past, sometimes offer you popcorn, and the selection is good for a small store, so I wanted to be fair in my appraisal. But this episode revealed to me, not a spirit of neighborly helpfulness, but rather, vindictiveness for not buying a simple $2 item in their store. Don't let the popcorn fool you, they're not your friend.

This is my go to spot because they are so close to where I live, so I started going there out of convenience but now I go because the staff are so nice and super helpful! They might be a little more expensive than the bigger stores, but they send coupons every month and that makes up for it.
