I wish I could rate this branch and Citizens better than one star, but I am unable to find a reason to do so. Here is a list of reasons why:1. Security Issues: The Citizens password system does not allow for special characters like other banks do, and it does not seem to offer robust two-factor authentication protection either.2. Electronic Bank Transfer Issues: I attempted to transfer some money from my Citizens bank account to another bank. After entering the other bank’s information on the Citizens website, I was informed that the authentication would be done via Plaid. The next day, I received the two verification deposits and verified them on the Citizen’s site. However, while Plaid indicated “successful,” the webpage did not progress to the next step. Multiple browsers and a call to customer service yielded no results; I was informed that there was an issue with Plaid and there was no timeline for resolution. The App version also failed.3. Branch Inefficiency: Here’s where things get interesting with this Winchester branch. I called at 2 PM and spoke to their manager, Olga. After explaining my need to create a bank check to transfer some funds to my other account in a different bank, she instructed me to come in person due to the amount exceeding the app’s daily limit. Since she said the business hours ended at 4 PM, I arrived at 3 PM. A woman sitting next to the entrance informed me she couldn’t assist, and I needed to go to the Woburn branch. She refused to believe that I had spoken to someone at her branch until after seeing my call record. It turned out; I had spoken with the branch manager, who had left at 2:30 PM, and there was no other authorized personnel present since another woman was out too. My only option was the Woburn branch.When I inquired about what are the limits for a banker check of smaller amounts, the information provided by this woman was inconsistent and contradictory (She kept on saying 1K or 5K or 12K etc. and refusing to give me a straight answer until I have repeated myself numerous times). After a tedious journey to the Woburn branch and much time wasted, I was able to get the check. To my surprise, the Woburn staff confirmed that multiple smaller checks could have been issued at the Winchester branch.I couldn’t help but spend another 10 minutes sharing my unpleasant experience here. The problems encountered included misleading information from the manager, insufficient authorized staff, and a need for significant improvement in professional communication from the woman at the Winchester branch. She consistently provided contradictory information, demonstrated a lack of understanding of bank check limits, and unnecessarily forced me to another branch in heavy traffic.Citizens bank, I want to love you and do banking with you. But given what happened in this week. I am afraid I cannot.

I had a consistently bad experience with Citizens Winchester. When I was able to correct something with the branch, corporate would ignore or reject the solution. So, I eventually closed my account.

Avoid them - questionable practices. I have been trying for a few weeks to close a loan with $0 balance. They have quoted it will cost me a different number each person I talk to - $0, 25, 75, 425, and 500. Since we had a loan with them for many years, they convinced us to refinance it with a lower and no prepay penalty. Now they are saying we have to pay. "Babs" used the ultimate blow-off -"well who did you talk to by name, we have a lot of different people who work here." There are wonderful banks out there - go somewhere else or you will pay!
