A rebuilt starter was installed in my Honda Pilot the day before I drove to Williamstown. The next day I was stranded in the athletic field parking lot of Williams College. Campus police recommended Ron's Auto Repair. I called Ron at 5:45am. By the sound of it, I woke him up. We chatted for 20mins. about my issue and cars in general. He towed the car before 9am when the parking lot was expected to fill up. $85 charge which I thought was very reasonable. The next day he swapped out my dead starter and I was off and running. Total charge for labor: $140 and change. Also very reasonable. Tipped $25 which I rarely do with mechanics. Expect you'll want to do the same.

So, it is Nov. 10, 2022. I am in Williamstown, MA. About 1pm, I cruise into Ron's with my 2009 Chevy Equinox, looking to have someone look under the hood and tell me what the NOISE is. I walked into the office and find a guy sitting; no greeting, no standing up to great a possible new customer... Just a truly SOUR expression. He looks at me and I ask him if he is Ron. He responds I don't need to know that. Oh... okay. I'd like to speak with the owner. His response? WANT DO YOU WANT? I responded with something about how getting old is a real pain, start to complete a thought. He is extremely agitated that I like to gab a bit. He asked again what I needed, interrupting me mid sentence AGAIN. I had sat into a chair, stood up and offered something like finding a shop not so busy... maybe I just thought that. Anyhow, I told him nevermind, I'll just go find someone else and left. Oh, for what it's worth... I need the old engine out and another put in. Simple. He lost THOUSANDS of bucks! Idiot!

My car died in the middle of Main Street Williamstown and I was stuck and I googled tow trucks in Williamstown and I saw a Ron had good reviews...I called him and he came very quickly... he towed me back to pittsfield... he was a great guy.. I highly recommend him

This was a big mistake! Ron is not a nice person to do business with he never makes eye contact with you. I knew it was a bad sign when he couldn't look me in the eyes. He also made a statement that made me second guess his honesty. When we were speaking about the estimated price he said "if I told you every customer was treated equally I would be lying to you". Right there and then I should've walked away ...... I needed a new alternator, and I mentioned if I'm satisfied with his work I'll have him look at replacing my brakes. I then call the next day to see what's the cost and he said $980. I was very angry because that is not what an alternator costs and he proceeded to say I fixed your back brakes too. Without notifying me he proceeded to fix something on the car I didn't ask him to fix. Keep in my he just fixed the back brakes (not all four) he said the alternator cost $300 then charges me $600 for back brakes, he inflated the price because he knew I was not from that area. I drive a Honda it's a cheap car to fix he is a crook and I encourage people to never do business there. He knew I was from out of town and tried to stiff me. Never ever again, I never write yelp reviews but he's so crooked watch out people. Then he yells at me like I'm the bad guy..... stay away!
