Excellent caretakers of these precious lives. I am so happy I adopted two beautiful babies!

I have never met anyone that cares about cats the way Denise does. She will absolutely do anything and everything in her power to not only care for them despite age, medical problems or social issues - but she makes sure all cats go to the best of homes. The rescue group is tiny and no frills, but every penny goes to the cats. I wish more people shared their positive experiences! Non profit, no kill, cats first. ❤️

Linda has uniquely done what 99% of the country's animals shelters have not, and that is established herself as a strickly No Kill facility. I have been rescuing cats and kittens for 40 years and have a friend who has done the same, and Denise has been our go to all these years. She takes them in all conditions, renders them professional veteranian care, doesn't break up pairs or sibblings. The people giving bad reviews are acting like they are experts, and the one dumping two cats giving a bad review, really!. People planning on adopting here should disregard the majority of the negative comments, as the more you read them carefully, you will find the flaws in them. Denise has saved thousands of dumped, discarded, lost, abused, and starving cats from a horrible death. My family will always be deeply indebted to them for the kindness they have shown our rescues.

I had a very positive experience adopting from here. The adoption coordinator was very friendly and responsive. Denise was super helpful as well and frequently checked in on one of my kittens who was very small and wasn't gaining weight at the time. She genuinely cares for the cats and does the best she can. She and the coordinators are selective with who they choose to adopt to as EVERY adoption agency should be.. so all the reviews saying they received no response... there is probably a reason for it ?♀️

They are the best. Treating cats the way they do is priceless

I emailed about two cats specifically, and when I showed up I was rudely greeted by a man with an attitude asking if we were even in the right place? One was adopted already. He was asking another group loudly how their cat died. It was an extremely unwelcoming experience. Very tightly packed. I’ll get my cats elsewhere.

A wonderful shelter that’s filled with caring people. My parents adopted two beautiful babies from them. We had a great experience! Thank you WHCP!

very unprofessional. i was in a very bad situation and had to move. i thought my cats would be ok to surrender at this shelter. that was a mistake. the owner was so rude and had no compassion. why open up a shelter if you cant handle it? next time i’ll definitely pay to surrender my cats at dakin…

I emailed Denise over 2 weeks ago now and still havnt heard back from her. When we went to visit the cats, it felt like an unclean environment. All the cats were sick and they even had a missing kitten somewhere in the dirty room with all the sick cats.

Horrible experience. I emailed Denise about the kittens she posted on FB and told her I was interested in a kitten and asked if an appt was needed to see them. She said “no appointment needed”. I drove over an hour, coming from CT, to get there and there were no kittens. She said “Oh but we have cats that would love attention”. She proceeded to tell me that the kittens are fostered and not at that location, and that they are only sold in pairs. It was honestly disappointment after disappointment, and I feel so horrible for all the kittens and cats that may not get adopted now because of the lack of communication and unprofessionalism from the people working this shelter. Because I know that I will not be going back to this location and will go somewhere else to adopt a kitten.

My girlfriend had applied to adopt a cat from this organization, and was denied not because she currently has one, but because she had previously had an outdoor cat. Although it is their policy to not adopt to families who intend to put the cat outdoors, I am curious to know why the denial was given if this cat was intended to remain indoors but we had previously had an outdoor cat. All this being said, the staff (presumably Denise as thats the email associated with the facebook page) were increidbly rude in the denial incorporating an image in the intial email about outdoor cats that sought to ostracize and belittle those of us who have outdoor cats. When I brought this to their attention explaining how rude it is to tell other people how to raise their animals (within reason), she instead doubled down and proceeded to go down the list essentially explaining why all those things were bad. Incredibly rude interaction. Not to mention, the vast majority of things mentioned in the image about the dangers of outdoor cats, such as FIV and ringworm, have been found in her cats according to reviews from other individuals. All in all, dont do any business with this organization.

If I could rate no stars I would.I emailed Denise looking to adopt a beautiful black cat that my aunt surrendered to the shelter a week prior. I found him by coincidence on the shelters Facebook page. I emailed Denise and respectfully inquired about him. Denise emailed me back saying that he was adopted - no worries! I suspected as much due to him being a beautiful cat.She added a comment saying " you should have stepped up to the plate when he arrived here" which was uncalled for. She is extremely rude and unprofessional and doesn't treat potential clients with respect.I also currently work at a veterinary office and see many cats that clients have adopted from her shelter. Some come in with skin infections, upper respiratory infections, fleas, etc. I can't speak first hand how the beautiful cats are being handled and cared for, but if she followed proper precautions many of these cats wouldn't have so many problems. I'm not sure if she works with a veterinarian to get these cats checked out once they arrive in her care.Denise, if your reading this, I urge you to work on your professionalism with clients and work with a veterinarian to get these cats healthy if they are sick. I only care about the cats, their well-being and if they are reviewing the proper care that the need and deserve. To anyone thinking about adopting from this shelter, please do your research. The choice is ultimately up to you. But I will not be recommending this shelter to anyone unless the owner shows significant change.

First of all, I’d like to state that the cat I adopted is absolutely a sweet boy and I wouldn’t trade him for the world. However, this shelter did not do their due diligence and they never tested him for FIV, which is the bare minimum in most shelters. When contacted through email, Denise is incredibly unprofessional and doesn’t answer in complete sentences and dodges questions about cat health and safety. I will not be adopting through Westfield in the future.

First of all, I want to say that I think the work that they do is wonderful the way they care for all these animals. My issue is the extreme pickiness of how they choose people who want to adopt they’re animals. I’m not saying not to screen, potential adopters, but the extremes that they go through is absolutely ludicrous. I was passed over. I have had cats my entire life. I keep my cats for life. I take my cats to the vet every year Or more if they need it. They are vetted they have their shots. They are spayed, but because I have inconsistencies with the vets because of moving and what not, I was passed over. My cats are happy healthy and very loved. I keep them for life! So because of their extreme pickiness they missed out on a good home! I know I’m not alone. There are many like me!

I just adopted a cat from here and the people were great! The cats are obviously well taken care. If you’re looking to adopt a cat I recommend Westfield Homeless Cat Project!
