The staff at the front office are wonderful- attentive, funny and care about the people. The pool is amazing- clean and well managed. The locker rooms are well attended to. It’s a superior Y!

While I have been in larger and quieter YMCA facilities, the staff here truly makes this place 5 star amazing. Everyone is always smiling and welcoming and engaging. If they notice you're sad or upset they try to cheer you up and offer to talk about it. They're fast to respond to any problem you have.Considering how busy it gets here, they keep the facility remarkably clean. My only obstacle was the crowd in the pool. I never actually found a "down time" or a time to visit when it wasn't incredibly busy. Which was often how I navigated my discomfort of crowds at other YMCAs. But it really shouldn't be surprising. The staff maintains such a pleasant, happy, clean atmosphere that I wanted to spend extra time here too.

Beautiful new facilities! Family swim time is super fun. They've added more parking in the last few years- I've never had an issue finding a spot.

The Parkway Y has the best yoga teachers! There are lots of other classes throughout the week as well with lots of different times to fit everyone’s schedule.

The instructor does an amazing job with my son, who is afraid to swim. This location is clean and has available parking in their lot.

Everyone at the Parkway has been so nice and welcoming- starting the minute you walk in to the front desk. AquaX with Regina is my favorite program.

The West Roxbury YMCA is wonderful. Lovely community organization, great staff, really good aerobic and weightlifting equipment and beautiful pool. And the hours are amazing. I go at 6 am many days and at 6 pm on some days and often on the weekend. I'm so grateful those odd hours are available.

Ok, firstly I only attended for a short time frame (<2wks) while visiting in West Roxbury to maintain swim laps. So, I have the benefit of being able to compare to the Old Colony Y in Taunton. The Parkway volunteers and most of the people who work there are really nice! However, special acknowledgement and cudos goes to Colleen at the front desk. She is so accomodating, funny, and kind. Somehow she seems to be everywhere at once juggling every issue imaginable. She gets 5 stars in my book!!POOL: The 25yd pool is beautiful, kept really clean (an incredible feat for the number of people who use it), great lighting, suspended cameras in the rafters (not sure how they use them), and a different kind of chemical which is more comparable to saline - such a welcome change to the high load of chlorine at the Taunton branch - which has dried out my hair, nails, and completely faded out my bathing suits from navy blue to a pale lavender ?. Here at Parkway, my hair feels sooo much better. Additionally, they normally have a kind of salad spinner just for bathing suits, FABULOUS showers, and plenty of locker space. The downside is that there are no dressing rooms per se - just wide open locker area sections. ? To get dressed one will definitely get creative in this department. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pool is way, WAAAAAY overcrowded. If you can find a parking space (and that can be a BIG "IF"), good luck getting a lane. Sometimes you have to wait, and many time you might have to swim 2 to a lane (some have told me that there have been THREE to a lane at times ? - so prepare for occasional bumping. Being a female, I find I will leave the pool entirely despite unfinished laps, if I end up sharing with a long legged, long armed male. Most swimmers will alert you BEFORE getting in the lane with you - how respectful and kind. But there are a couple here and there that just dive in and the hell with you until you are breezing along then met by an unexpected kick ? so you really have to pay attention to what might be going on in your lane. There is one person who seems to pretend she is an Olympic swimmer and will kick and splash to beat the band which makes it so very difficult for anyone else trying to share the lane, and so many avoid her if possible. I can't help but wonder if that might be part of her plan so as to insure the lane will belong to her and only her. ? Most people are truly very nice, though and can be pleasant while lane-sharing.In Taunton I have never had to share a lane. However in comparison, Taunton is dirty with a high level of chlorine - which attributes to extremely damaged hair and nails. People should be showering before getting in the water, but most don't care there, and their body moisturizers and hair oils end up floating along the surface gumming up your goggles. ?This doesn't seem to be an issue at Parkway at all.So there you have it: Parkway Y has a very nice pool if you can find parking and a swim lane. (Have not been to their gym.)As a final note, I thought it was absolutely AMAZING that a baptism was being conducted on 6/23/2023. To respect all people, and of all religions is a refreshing and very much appreciated outlook, and I often have wondered why the Young Men's Christian Association doesn't keep the Ten Commandments posted, despite the "law" and given that they are a Christian organization. I don't understand why kids are being forced to recognize and celebrate Pride Month, but the YMCA cannot be respected for what it has always stood for. After all no one is forcing anyone to read the Big 10, nor celebrate it, but why be forced into ignoring them as if the Ten Commandments never existed?Maybe they will take a brave step forward by emphasizing MUTUAL respect, and reconsider?

Our family is new to the Parkway YMCA(Y), but we are having a blessed time. Parkway Y is amazing. They have wonderful staff and the most importantly their facility is very clean. They have big windows everywhere, so you feel openness when you go in.I love their group exercise classes. The instructors are so energetic, always smiling, and keep encouraging you whatever you do. After each class, I always feel positive and happy. You can’t imagine how many fun exercise classes they offer. So far I tried Zumba, HIIT, Cycle, Pilates, and Cardio Dance classes. Oh, all classes are so fun. I can’t wait to try many more classes. If you feel down or depressed, come to join the Parkway Y, you will feel much better after joining some of their classes. Even with the very first class, you will feel great. I compared Parkway Y with other Sport center exercise classes, but the Parkway Y has much more classes with very flexible hours for all ages. They are simply the best! I am so happy we joined the Parkway Y.I also want to point out a very unique program the Parkway Y runs. It’s the Parents Night Out (PNO) program. They watch kids (3 yrs – 12 yrs) for 2 nights per month, so parents can go out to connect and have fun. If you are parents, you know that we all need a break from time to time. They watch your kids for 3 whole hours (6pm-9pm) and they even provide pizza and drink for them. Think about how much you would pay to hire a caregiver for Nanny to watch your kinds for 3 hours twice a month. Why not use the money instead to join the Parkway Y. It’s absolutely worth it. Taina Acevedo runs this program and she is amazing. She offers a lot fun activities for kids, so my kids love to spend time in the Parkway Y. During school vacations, Taina and her team also come up with various activities and services to help the families. So thoughtful and so kind!Taina also sends us very detailed monthly newsletters and any new updates. Her communication skills are incredible. Parkway Y is blessed to have her on the team!Thank you so much Parkway staff for all you do for our community. We so appreciate all you do every day! Thank you, thank you, thank you…

Great atmosphere and plenty of equipment but the best part of my experience are the people that work there. From the front desk to the staff on the floors, to the trainer's and teachers.
