I never attended Gordon, but I just read how they cancelled a speaker because he had the nerve to speak the truth according to God's Word. If you are looking for a Christian college, seek one that lives up to that description.

I am a graduate student enrolled in the Masters of Education for Instruction and Curriculum with a focus in secondary education. I started in January of 2016. So far it has been a sincere pleasure being a student here. With the exception of one professor, I have enjoyed all my professors as they are experts in their own respective fields. Many of them work in the field and are more than willing to help you succeed in your program and are very accessible when you need them. Classes are small and not everything on here is watered in "religion". At least not at the graduate level. Although I consider myself to be a Christian, Ive never felt out of place here with the small and super friendly community that is on campus. The community doesn't make it about religion, but more importantly, relationships. Although I take evening classes here and commute, the campus is quiet and very easy to navigate. In regard to the tuition rate, they are lower than my alma mater, Salem State University, which for a private college, is impressive in addition to it's education program which is ranked 14th out of 2,400 programs nationally by the National Council Teacher's Quality. For $325 a credit, I would do this experience again, especially for a regionally accredited college that even helps you find employment opportunities after you graduate as several teachers who graduated from this program are numerous high schools around me. Gordon has a top-tier quality program and they know and firmly believe in it, as the education programs are the ONLY programs in the graduate school at Gordon. Gordon is also ranked high for a safe campus. I easily see this with the number of police patrols and emergency phones placed strategically around the campus. I have absolutely no regrets going here.

Our child picked Gordon because it was seemed like a fairly conservative Christian school in a secular part of the world. It has proven to be a place for serious Christian students to support each other and concerntrate on learning instead of partying. After she was accepted, I was surprised that Gordon seemed to be undermining its foundations by being timid about its faith while promoting feel-good social trends. For example, the school promotes social justice, e.g. the redistribution of wealth, and even had double-talking, anti/pro-abortion Senator John Kerry speak on faith in the chapel; however, the college rarely publishes the message that Christ came to redeem us from our sins and bring us to eternal life. As you can see by the vituperative reviews here, Gordon is under attack by Boston area LGBT groups who will stop at nothing until they hang a rainbow banner on the chapel. Gordon may be ill-positioned to defend itself against the onslaught because it has done little to prepare and encourage politically active conservative Christian students and alumni who have the courage to respond. Gordon's president has made it clear he wants to steer away from controversal issues; unfortunately for him and the college, the enemies of Christianity have no such compunction. If I were looking for a college for a child today, I would be concerned that Gordon was on the verge of losing character and becoming a run-of-the mill college, chasing fads and subject to politicians' recent moral revelations.

The head of this institution has recently decided to recede to the Dark Ages with a very public and blatant homophobic policy. After being called out for the controversy, the Board of Trustees doubled down on this civil rights issue. I'm changing the wording, although not the rating of this review. After several chats with good friends who are alumni there, I realize that there are great people affiliated with the school who do not agree with this policy.

Dear Gordon College, I have had some of the most amazing years here on your campus. Thank you for all the great professors that made my time here all the better. It really makes me sad to think that I will be leaving in May but I think it will only be for the better. Through your extensive network in Boston (alumnae, friends of the college, and churches) and beyond, I don't actually feel nervous about graduating during a recession! I think you have done a great job of preparing each of your students in an all-encompassing way. The results have generally been confident, smart, articulate and faithful servants to society; this is a legacy which I hope to continue when I graduate. Thanks again and I wish you all the best in years to come. Love, -Cecilia-
