I have gone to Lee twice this year. I find him to be very trustworthy, fair and thorough. I’m sure his clients are much bigger than I am but he gave me the courtesy of going through all of my coins and stamps. Highly recommend!

I was appalled by how rude the owner of this business is. I discussed a large listing of coins with him over the phone. He was impatient and arrogant when asked questions, seemed mostly in a rush, told me first to make an appointment, then added that it was no use coming in unless I wanted to sell - well, that depended on the appraisal of the collection - and was also unclear and superficial with his explanations (barely differentiating between the coins, treating them all the same which they are not, telling me to just go by the value of the gold, but then again with some exceptions…). I assume he’s looking for very rare coins only and otherwise doesn’t want to bother at all. I am also 100 % convinced that if I had been a male customer, he would have been more respectful and would have had a different and more polite “tone”. When asking him to to repeat some information, he told me to “just listen”. At this point I had had enough, let him know what I thought of his behavior and hung up. I do not recommend this business. Extraordinarily rude and arrogant. They don’t deserve any customers. Surprisingly, they have been in Wellesley, MA for a long time and still exist…

This guy is the absolute worst. Scroll the rest do these reviews. He 1000% is writing positive reviews himself. I brought in a book of old coins my grandfather had begged me not to sell but I went against his wishes and brought them to his shop to be appraised. He didn’t even look at the coins just told me I was scum, my coins were not worth anything. He then escorted me and my friend from the shop aggressively. I then waited 6 months and went to another shop who took the time to appraise my coins TURNS OUT I HAD A 1917 DOUBLE DIED PENNY WORTH 2500 DOLLARS IN MY COLLECTION THAT HE MISSED. Absolute disgrace of a man. Avoid at all costs.

I brought Lee some unusual American coins I found in my in-laws' personal effects. Little did I know that he is one of the main experts on US coins. I very much enjoyed talking with him. He carefully evaluated what I brought and gave me a very good price for the ones of value. It was a pleasure dealing with him and I would recommend him highly.

I discovered Bellisario some years ago, and have been coming back ever since. The owner, John Bellisario, is honest as can be and brings a scholar’s expertise to his business. Once you visit, you will never want to go anywhere else. Mr Bellisario is a rare commodity himself:pure gold.

I was looking to sell some modern U.S. Mint commemorative and bullion coins that had been sitting in a safe deposit box for many years. I chose Lee Bellisario because of his knowledge, long history in the business, and reputed fairness. I was not disappointed! We were able to schedule a prompt appointment and he carefully went over the items in my collection. The prices he offered me were fair and he gave me some solid professional information on how coins are graded. It turns out that he was one of the people who developed the PCGS grading standards. He also provided a candid verbal appraisal of a family heirloom that I did not want to sell, but had curiosity about. His collection of autographed baseballs (in addition to coins) is also impressive.Be wary of reviews that described him as rude or imply that he was not reasonable in meeting the expectations of some people who posted negative reviews. He's very candid and will tell you if an item is very common or defective in some way. Some buyers may find that disappointing, but the fact is your "treasure" may not be worth what you had hoped.Visiting his shop and selling to him was a pleasant, educational, and worthwhile experience.

A vanishing breed of coin dealer. If you like the hobby, find an excuse to come visit him. If you're buying, he should be able to find whatever you're looking for, and act on your behalf to pay a fair price. If you're selling, as I was, he'll give you good professional judgement and (what I believe to be) a fair offering price. He's honest - I included a modestly valued 19th century foreign coin in a big pile of junk coins, and he noticed it and took the time to look it up rather than merely disguise his interest. Treat him as you like to be treated, and you can't go wrong!

Very professional, in-depth review of a collection and a fair price. Lee has been at this for years (read about his history on the web site) and you can tell. He took the time required to assess the value of each coin, calling on the latest books, magazines and web resources to reach conclusions, and gave me what I thought was a good price. Would recommend to anyone looking for appraisals or to sell some coins.

I worked with Lee who was very pleasant and professional. He took the time to explain coin grading and the value of our families coins. I would highly recommend Lee and Bellisario Rare Coin Gallery. Kathy L

Probably like a lot of people in early 2020, I got myself into a financial bind and needed to sell some coins I had to pay down some debt. I heard about Bellisario coin shop, so I called and made an appointment with the owner Lee Bellisario. One look around the shop and you can tell that Lee has been in this business for a long time! I saw far more than just coins, he’s got jewelry, sports memorabilia including trading cards, autographed photos… On and on. Lee wrote down details of my coins, I asked for an appraisal - he went over to his computer and in about 20 minutes came back with a write up on the six different coins I showed him. He wasn’t just referring to some coin book, he also has Internet websites that he can find coins just like yours for sale and tell you what the days price is… (This is something we might all aspire to learn!)I found Lee to be fair, honest, willing to take some time to share his knowledge and educate me, not rude, disrespectful or dismissive at all - in contrast to some other reviews. It’s very clear to me that this man’s life’s work is right there in that shop - and if you know the underlying details about Wellesley and the expectations everyone from that town has regarding financial matters, 45 years and counting under Lee’s belt tells you a lot. This man is highly regarded and rightfully so, and I know exactly where I’ll be going for purchases and sales of coins and other valuables as long as he’s in business.

Don't listen to the bad reviews, Mr. Bellisario is a very knowledgeable and honest coin dealer with decades of experience. I went to his shop and he has a large selection of interesting and fairly priced coins. It's clear he's passionate about what he does and he's very professional about his work. I have nothing but good things to say about his business.I can't see why people would leave his shop a one star review (one star is for the worst of the worst, not whatever place you don't love. There have to be multiple MAJOR problems with a business to justify such a rating) because he told them how much their coin was actually worth. People often think their common coin is worth a lot because of what they saw on television or on a clickbait youtube video. Don't hate the coin dealer for being honest about the price.
