Impossible to deal with. Have had multiple shepherds, fenced in yard, financially stable, take our dogs everywhere. Yet, no shepherd was 'right' for us. Three hour probing interview including our financial situation.

After waiting over 2 monthsAnd having my houseChecked and approved for adopation and after havingMy references checked and approved along with my vetI received a phone callFrom a lady named TinaIn charge of placing dogsI was turned down becauseShe said I had older dogs and stated the shepherdWould not be a good fit andI could not have the dogI was up very set with her decision and it took them over two months to realize that I had two dogs that IHad adopted years priorI can not recommend this place Gsrne. They are judge and juryWithout justice since theyAsk you to applyI had to make several phone calls to find out I would not get the dog.If you want to try your luck and waste your time along with your references time , be my quest.Bruce BissonetteCONNECTICUT

All volunteer... hardworking rescue providing excellent care and matching for every dog according to what the dog needs Generally require a fence as a added safety.... Not to say people without a fence are not good dog owners ! Also requires patience and time ! Each dog comes first and is placed by temperament, activity level needed , and dog skills needed to train a rescue dog

appears to be a pretty good scam they've got going . A couple of dog pics, a list of requirements that nobody could ever meet and the fund raising never stops. So the special people who "foster" the dogs get to have some pretty nice pets ,never have to consider giving them up because no one is good enough and other people pay all the bills. A slick tv preacher couldn't have done any better

Would love to adopt a dog from them but their fencing requirements are absurd: down to specifications of what type of fence, how high, how large of an area, etc. We live on a lake with a terraced back yard, so no, we're not getting a fence. Our last rescue dog did fine without a fence, and besides, with or without a fence we wouldn't leave the dog outside unsupervised. Since he died recently I decided to check back in with their website to see if things have changed and they haven't, so it's not even worth it to try contacting them to see if they're flexible: their website is pretty clear that they aren't.

This so-called organization, leads you on to believe that they have pets for afoption.Even after you have a home inspection done by their group, and it's has been approved, the process continues on to be subjected to the approval of who is fostering the pets exactly. So I believe it has been a completely unfair process to someone who is eager to adopt an animal who needs a second chance. If you get "testy" on the phone because you believe you have discrimanted against in the screening process, they hang up on you. Then you received notification that they do not have a pet who matches your criteria.NOT AN ORGANIZATION I WOULD MONEY DONATE MY TOO, EVER!

I sense the negative reviewers most likely don't understand how volunteer organization run or what it takes to operate a rescue and place this particular breed in a forever home. German Shepherds are wonderful dogs!. However, your average first time or inexperienced pet owner will not handle this breed well.. GSD are not for everyone. GSRNE is a volunteer organization of people who understand GSDs. Oh again they are VOLUNTEERS,not their full time job. if they don't answer the phone right away.. that is correct.. you will have to wait because they are all unpaid volunteers that do rescue work in their free time out of the good of their heart and love for the breed. GSRNE does a great job with the resources they have and the fundraising they do. This rescue is VERY, VERY careful where they place their dogs. THey will not place a dog unless it's the right match and their requirements are strict to protect and place a GSD in a home that is ideal for this breed and the particular dog. It can be very frustrating for a potential adopter who wants a dog right away and cannot wait out the process or if rejected offended by the rescues placement policies and decisions. GSRNE does right by the dog they foster and do their best to place dogs in forever homes. Great organization!
