UNETHICAL AND DISHONEST SERVICEThe A/C on our Jetta wasn't working in May 2023. The difference in service we received between VW Boston and a second opinion says the world about how VW Boston treats its customers.Boston VW: After performing an A/C Diagnosis for $345, we were told that if we wanted our A/C working again we'd have to replace the compressor for $1,900. We declined and asked for an Evac/Recharge of the refrigerant, which was on our invoice and they stated they did. The A/C was still not working when we drove off the lot.A second opinion: We tried a local mechanic (Aris Auto in Somerville) a couple weeks later given the cost of the replacement. For $180, they did an A/C diagnostic, found that there was no refrigerant (hmm), saw no issue with the compressor (hmm again), and recharged the refrigerant. It's been 7 months and our A/C has been 100% since.Boston VW goes from sketchy to all-out unethical: After our A/C was fixed for half the cost and we were told that a compressor replacement might have been a cash-grab, we called Boston VW for answers. We were told that they actually didn't replace the refrigerant, like they said they did, because the compressor was so obviously leaky that it would violate environmental laws to do so. We were guaranteed that because of the leak, our A/C would be broken again within two weeks. After two months pass by, our A/C was still working, and when we looked up these "environmental laws", we saw that the federal government has a webpage for consumers to make clear such laws don't exist. After catching Boston VW making things up twice, we again called, this time to ask for a refund. We were told there'd be no refund, but we could sue them and that they do well in court. They ignored a formal letter asking for a refund, and when we went to small claims, they won on the technicality that we failed to bring the mechanic who fixed our A/C to court with us to bear witness. We're never going to get our refund, but I still count us lucky for not getting duped into a $1,900 repair, and we're writing this review to save others from such a nightmare.

DO NOT BUY ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM BOSTON VW. This is one of the more crooked dealerships I have ever dealt with. If you cancel your warranty good luck getting your refund or at least the amount that is owed to you. Boston VW sat on my refund check for almost 3 months. I had reached out and left messages with numerous representatives in Finance including Bill Jesse and Joel Casser. Finally, the refund check was cut, but it was for far less than the $494.44 quoted by VW Drive Easy and was owed. I've now called numerous times to get the amount corrected and Boston VW is, again, nonresponsive and intends to keep the $275 I'm entitled to based on the contract. The worst part is VW Drive Easy program has no jurisdiction over the dealership, so I am left with dealing with Boston VW on my own. I cannot express this enough--to anyone considering purchasing a care from this dealership--please think twice. It's also worth mentioning that this isn't a fluke. This is the second warranty I've cancelled with Boston VW and both have been a nightmare.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALER - HUGE MARK UP OVER MSRPThis dealer thinks it's okay to mark up cost on parts literally 100-200% in many cases. I went to my local dealer to pickup a PCV hose and the cost was $120 (MSRP $180) but it ended up being on back order.I found out Boston VW was the only other dealer around that had one in stock. They told me the price was $280 (yes that's over double the cost a 133% increase).I told them they must have made a mistake and they said no that is the cost and they're entitled to markup the cost from MSRP. I could see selling parts around MSRP cost but over double is ridiculous. I told them idk how or why anyone would bother coming here if they're going to blatantly rob people.

I've had to use Boston Volkswagen for service on a few occasions and was always impressed by the service. A shout out to Armando who was so responsive, ready to answer questions and patient during any potential panic over car issues. He would let me know what was going on with the car and always offered a timely estimate on when it would be done. Service matters and my experience with Boston Volkswagen is proof it can make all the difference.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. Absolutely terrible experience. They didn't have my car for two months and then tried to make me pay more after signing an original contract. The car came damaged in multiple ways. The ceiling was covered in black dots too from their failed cleaning attempt. I was spoken to very rudely by a few members of staff and then overheard the worst one talking about me to another coworker using insulting language. I really urge people to take your business elsewhere they will SCAM you.

The check engine light came on for my Jetta. I scheduled an appointment online just fine to drop it off in the morning. Was notified later that day the computer was showing engine misfiring incorrectly since they checked out the spark plugs and there was no wear or faulty parts. Not even a full week later, the check engine came back on. I called the service department back and had the worst possible customer experience. Simply wanting to get some quick important information was extremely difficult. My call was passed to voicemail then kept on hold for 15 min for Mike (my "service advisor") with no one ever picking up. The reps seemed nice in the beginning but were ruthless and quick in shutting me down in getting basic information about the $400 paid to essentially have nothing fixed. What is more, I took my Jetta to a local mechanic that same week for them to see the same codes from the car's computer and to just replace the parts which cost roughly the same amount I already paid. I want to give this service dept the benefit of the doubt but I feel that I was basically scammed out of a good sum of money for literally having nothing accomplished on my vehicle.Lastly. I would honestly love for some one from the online presence dept of this dealership to reach out to me to see if they can do anything to make this right. Would be truly appreciated.

My first time getting a car on my own couldn't have been a better experience. Steve was such a big help, so nice & thorough- he wanted the best for me! The process was so easy & organized and I am so happy with my decision. I defiantly recommend going to Volkswagen in Watertown & ask for Steve!!

BAIT AND SWITCH. Avoid VW Boston unless you want to be scammed. I ordered and paid for tires, installation and alignment on-line in addition to scheduling an appointment: buy 3 get one for $1 and $99 alignment. When I showed up for my appointment they said that the alignment price was wrong and that I was too late for the buy 3 get one $1 deal. Yet, I was emailed a receipt and done the whole transaction, purchase and scheduling, on their site. Don't waste your time VW Boston is a rip off. I should have gone with VW Wellesley where I bought my car from the beginning.

UPDATE: In response to the comment by Rachel that the manager paid for installation of a level 2 charger. That is a lie. I was given the VW portable level 1/2 charger. If the manager would like to pay for installation of a level 2 charger great. I look forward to it.It will require an upgrade to my electrical service and new lines being run. Nothing has been installed....To further elaborate...I signed a purchase agreement for ID4 with them on 1/31. Bill Jesse specifically told me not to worry I don't own the car until I drive it off the lot and that this is Massachusetts law. Purchase agreement mentions nothing about warranty, vehicle service start date, EA charging. The roof glass is cracked. I am told I can pick up the car and drive it anyway, then schedule a time to bring it back and get it fixed when their glass guy is available. On 2/6 I show up with a check, confirmed with Justin Jesse that we can close the deal, and that I can drive the car and bring it back another time to be repaired. When I show up I am told the car is on a lift and I can't drive it. I give them the check from the bank because Bill Jesse once again assures me, according to Mass law, I don't own the car until I drive it off the lot.I express how much I want the car for the weekend. On 2/7 I am told the car will be fully repaired and ready 2/8 or 2/9. On 2/9 I am told it is in the process of repair. On 2/10 I am told I can pick it up as soon as service gives the all clear (this is Friday). Later that day I am told the car is not ready.I am driving a car still that I will be trading in. They offer me a loaner because they don't want me to put more miles on my car. I refuse, I'd rather drive my car.On Monday I am informed they need to send it to Hogan glass, the car will be ready 2/17 or 2/20. I ask them to get me a deal on a level 1/2 charger for the hassle this has been. They agree to split it 50/50. This was not their good will, or their idea. This was me asking if they would be willing to do something because of the hassle this has been.On 2/17 I ask if there is an update, once again I'd like the car for the weekend. No response. I call the glass place. They are closed. Finally, I get notified by Justin car is ready, he asks me to call my insurance and put the car under my name. I refuse until I get to test drive the car. They tell me I can come test drive later same day. I point out that the glass place is currently closed. Justin informs me someone from the glass shop is meeting them to unlock the gates and let them get the car. By 4-4:30 I can come and drive it.6pm I've heard nothing, I call Justin. He says they literally are on their way with the car right now.Monday 2/20 I finally hear from Justin the car is ready and on the lot. I call the glass place again to find out where the car was on Friday. They told me someone from Boston VW picked it up Friday Morning. (The car had at least 40 more miles on it when I finally got it than when I first signed purchase agreement even though the glass place is only 7.5 miles away). I am away on business and wait until I return Friday (2/24) to test drive the car. Josh, the sales manager walks back to the parts department with me to go 50/50 on the charger after I ask Justin about it 4-5 times. Parts says they already billed sales 100%. Josh says okay, he'll straighten it out by the time I get the car so I can pay my 50%.I call insurance and give them the okay because the car seems fine. Josh tells me as soon as insurance faxes the form I can pick up the car, could be same day. Insurance confirms they faxed the form at 3:30pm. I hear nothing from dealership until Monday.Monday Josh says he couldn't figure out the billing, it wasn't worth his time, I can have the charger for free.I finally get the car.I find out a week later the service start date of the car was 2/1. I lost a month of free charging and a month of warranty. Josh claims I agreed on the service/warranty/charging start date. That I chose not to pick up the car until after the repair was done, an

The job was to repair a minor dent on the front Left Fender on my '22 VW Atlas R Line & minor scratches on the bumper & left side mirror. The shop & Progressive Ins. couldn't agree on price. The shop did unnecessary work in order to squeeze as much money as possible on the job. It took a full month to get my car back. Communication with the VW Body shop was horrible. The work itself was well done but I won't use their services again. They're not worth the trouble. I do not recommend them.Services: Painting

Absolutely awesome! I was stuck in boston with a broken car and i live near concord NH. They drove me home, fixed my car, and then came and picked me up in my fixed vehicle. Armando and the driver took care of me. I would recommend this place to my own family.
