I’ve had one of the best trainers. David was awesome and intentional about how he helped me follow my workout goals. He pushed me at the right times and made himself available for questions whenever I wanted to continue our workout routines outside of our time together. With his help, I feel encouraged to continue my health journey at WOW.

I had originally loved this gym. Unfortunately I was assaulted by one of the members and when I requested to cancel my membership I was told that being assaulted was not a good enough reason. In addition, I provided proof that I worked over 25 miles away (required by the contract I signed) and they have continued to refuse to cancel my membership, breaking their own contract. If I could give someone zero stars once in my life, I would use that opportunity here.

I had the pleasure of working with David Salter as my personal trainer for about 1.5 years, and I can't recommend him highly enough. David's expertise and dedication to his clients' success were evident from our first session. He took the time to understand my fitness goals and tailored exercises that not only challenged me but also kept me motivated. His positive attitude and encouragement pushed me to surpass my own expectations. Additionally, David's knowledge and experience in injury recovery were invaluable, as he helped me rehabilitate from a back injury, providing exercises and techniques that not only alleviated discomfort but also strengthened my core and improved my overall mobility. His professionalism and punctuality made each session efficient and enjoyable.

Do you love getting ripped off? Do you love being charged money when you shouldn't be and then told that it's their right to do so? Do you like to Question corporate and have them tell you to get a refund from the local gym. Only to have the gym threaten to send you to collections? If you find yourself answering yes to these questions then WOW West Newton is the place for you. You'll get all of this and more.

Joined in Nov 2023. I joined just to use the sauna. Since I have joined the sauna has been not working at least 4-5 each week. So today Jan 12 when I went to WOW west Newton. Once again, it was not working. I asked the very polite young lady working, if I could speak with the manager. Because… enough was enough.I was introduced to the GM. Jocline Diaz. I explained to her that the sauna never seems to be working. I also explained. That when I arrive. I always ask the folks at the front desk if the sauna is working. Needless to say. She was, is extremely rude. Unprofessional, no people skills. As I stood their in disbelief. She told me in closing. If I don’t like it don’t bother coming back. Please WOW Headquarters. Please look into this behavior. I owned a business for 40yrs. If my general manager ever spoke to a customer like had spoken to me. She or he would have been fired on the spot. We all go to our local gyms for a nice workout. Not to be harassed. Save your money. Don’t sign up with WOW.

When I did use this gym, the lines upstairs for gym equipment were always long. It is super packed, which is probably a great sign, but it was a pain for someone looking to get in and out. I never had any issue getting time on a cardio machine downstairs. The reason for the 1-star review. Back in August, I fractured my shoulder and was unable to go to the gym. I called to inquire about canceling my membership. The person working that day suggested instead of canceling the membership, that I instead pause it. They wouldn't charge me for the duration of my time not being able to use the gym. They said it was too late in the billing cycle to stop payment in September though. I agreed to this and said, no problem about September. I get it.I was looking over my credit card statement at the end of December when I noticed that they were still charging me a portion of my monthly membership rate. They had charged me in October, November, and December and I had a pending payment in January. When I reached out to the corporate office with my displeasure, they said they'd cancel my membership for me but it's going to take 30 days and they'd be charging me again in January and also adding in my annual fee.Do with it what you will, my 1-star review is based on the deceitful practices of charging me when my membership was supposed to be "paused" due to my injury. Was going to resume activities next month after physical therapy is completed but I am not a fan of doing business with a deceitful company like this. Reminds me a lot of Boston Sports Club charging people monthly fees while they were closed during Covid.

It's a gamble if the place is even open in the mornings. The "personal trainer" is an absolute joke. Hes always on his phone while his clients are working out, getting their own weights, putting their own weights back and then cleaning the machine. All while the trainer is on his phone. Gym is always filthy and disgusting. Paper towels, plastic bottles, and dumbbells everywhere except where they should be. One side of the weight room is hot as hell, while the other side is freezing, I am not kidding. It's a shame because it has such an ability to be a great gym

Had the pleasure to work with Dave as my personal trainer for a year. Dave has been super friendly and ready to help on any specific concerns I have, from building a better posture to recovering from a sprained ankle. Highly recommeded!

Been working with David Salter for a few months now and he is great! Super accommodating and makes working out easy by keeping a record of all our workouts for the day and sending them to me after each session so I can continue training. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a good personal trainer!

I’ve been going to this gym since before they opened in Newton, it was ok at first at the new location but now they have absolutely no regard for the temperature. Some days it’s cold (rarely) the rest of the days are so hot. When it’s hot weather outside they don’t raise the ac. If you’re looking to do a lot of cardio do not come here you will be suffering. Some days it’s unbearable when trying to run on the treadmill it feels like it’s 80 degrees, hot, and humid. The windows will fog up as well from how hot it is inside. They keep the temp at 70 degrees which is way too hot for a gym in my opinion. It makes the workout unenjoyable because it feels as if you are just running outside on a hot day as well as making it very hard to breathe and uncomfortable.

Good for the price. Keep in mind the annual fee, etc makes the effective price much higher than the advertised price, which feels misleading. Even with this, it's still reasonable value. Good luck trying to cancel your membership. While their cancellation policy is standard for a gym, their billing appears to be out-sourced, and they simply ignore cancellations & keep on charging. Be prepared to spend some quality time with your bank trying to sort it out. Punch line: cheap gym with questionable business practices.

If you join, you had better be comfortable with joining for life. Seriously. It is nearly impossible to cancel your membership. You can't do it in the office. You are directed instead to send an email or certified letter to the corporate office. But, if my example is representative, that won't accomplish anything. I wrote in February to cancel the membership -- 4 months ago - and received an email confirmation that it was received. But ABC continued to charge my account. Finally tried calling the 800#. If you press '0' enough times you will get to a human being.47 minutes later (!!!) I was finally able to get it cancelled. The first operator proposed a "compromise": how about if instead of cancelling they downgrade the membership. I insisted I wanted to cancel and was told that they were "not authorized" to cancel memberships over the phone and that I needed to send an email.Only when I insisted on talking to a supervisor, and having that supervisor lookup and verify the emails were sent was I able to have it cancelled. So, maybe it's a great gym, but nothing should be this difficult.

Steer clear of this gym unless you want to be verbally abused, mistreated and talked down to by over wrinkled elderly women who stand behind abusive employees , and punk teens who are rude and arrogant. I went to work out World when it was in Waltham and actually quit going there because I was treated horribly on a repeated basis by management and some of the front desk workers. I was skeptical when I found workout World moved to Newton and thought because of its new location that it would be better management. Sadly I was wrong because I was repeatedly mistreated by some young punk kid at the front desk in the mornings who has no problem over charging your card but won't let you in the gym because he isn't capable of upping your membership a measly $10 so you can actually go to the gym and work out in the morning which is what you signed up for. 2 days of Sebastian AKA punk arrogant kid at the front desk being ridiculously rude to me and not being able to help me and I met with a 70-year-old lady who just wants to talk circles around their membership and policies and not actually address the issue at hand which was Sebastian's rudeness and their bad customer service. All they cared about was charging my card a year-long membership fee for abuse, mistreatment and being talked down to by some overly fake tan elderly woman. Never should have gave this one another chance, some things never change, and then when you ask him for a manager they tell you to email them. Run to the hills you're better off going to a gym at a prison and being treated better than this workout World.

I worked with David Salter for my prenatal fitness training. I'm really surprised to see how staying active could benefit my delivery and recovery process so much. I also had a very good glucose test result this time. David Salter understood my limits and was really encouraging. Now I'm ready to lose the baby weight under his guidance.

Melissa is an amazing personal trainer. She is personable, reliable, well educated and informed. She is endlessly encouraging and terrific at mixing things up so the workouts are always interesting and challenging. She is also really mindful when working with injuries. I highly recommend working with Melissa!!
