I’ve been going to doug for a couple years now and one thing I’ve noticed is he picks and chooses what he wants to do on cars. If he doesn’t “feel” like doing it, he’ll come up with an excuse as to why he can’t.
For example, I called to get my hub centric rings installed on my vehicle. I’m not too sure if he understands what exactly these are and why they’re used but when I called and asked if he would help me install them, he immediately said to call a tire shop. He doesn’t work on tires. Hub centric rings go on the inside of the hub, they fill up the space between rims and the hub when you get aftermarket rims. He told me I’d need everything rebalanced etc which is bullshit, just an excuse on why he doesn’t want to do the job. Hub centric rings make it so the lug nuts are “lug-centric”. It ensures that everything is centered and that the lugs go on straight and that there’s no vibration in the car. They have absolutely nothing to do with balancing or tires really. It’s a simple as taking off the tires, putting the ring on the hub and putting tires back on. Takes about 20 minutes top and I offered to pay the hour minimum etc.
Not to mention, Doug ruined the battery on my car while fixing my radiator etc and then tried to blame it on me. First thing you should do when working on components of a car like that is disconnect the battery. Something they did not do, so it completely shot my battery. He tried to blame it on me saying it’s an old car (it’s a 2015 golf and at the time had about 75k miles on it). Never had a battery problem either, picked it up from him and it died within 20 minutes of driving it.
I will gladly bring my business elsewhere as my car always needs some work done to it

I feel respected and taken care of every time I visit, whether for a tune up or when something goes wrong. Douglas and his team are there for you with thoughtful advice, and very prompt and superior service every time. Once they even stayed late after I was stuck waiting for a bus getting back to pick up my car -- it was too beyond kind! Another time, I called and Douglas patiently talked me through what to do about a warning light that I didn't understand, gave me crucial advice to get the car in safely, and they got me back on the road so much faster than I thought possible. I'm always anxious when it comes to my car. I'm so glad I have this crew there for me, caring for my Rav4 "Betty White" as much as I do. Can't speak more highly!

Had a great experience with Doug at Waltham Auto Service Center. He is a legend. Very clear and up front about what needed to get fixed with my car and prioritized them in order of making my vehicle safer to drive. Would highly recommend his work; this level of honesty and transparency is hard to come by

I took my car to this shop for safety inspection, but I was so disappointed by their service. I chose them because they have high ratings on google map, whereas I don’t think it’s their real service. They exaggerate the issues that can be fixed by other workshops.

The mud guard of my Prius were bent and twisted, its surrounding body were dent. I took my car to this center and Douglas told me he'll do what he can; they do mechanical repairs and do not do body repairs. The result of their work is amazing. The mud guard and the surrounding body look as good as new. Doug went out of his way to help me!

Very detailed and personalized experience. Never received this kind of attention to detail or communication from chains like Monro or NTB.
Fun anecdote: I recognized the air freshener scent and from it, learned this was where my Nana used to go for car services so now every time I'm driving and use the vents; the smell keeps her memory alive with me.
