ER services
Don't bother - head to the JP location or a different vet. They won't help you here - and they'll be rude along the way.

I brought my cat with vomiting issues. Doctor provided a good medication to mitigate the problem. The staff is nice and caring. Overall, the visit was good!

I brought my guinea pig Coco here for an emergency visit, and I was so grateful for the amount of love and care he was treated with. Everyone here was so kind, understanding, and helpful. They did everything they possibly could for him, but unfortunately it was his time. Shortly after I got a handwritten sympathy card from everyone who helped him while he was there and it genuinely brought me to tears. I’m so happy that in his time of stress he had so many people who genuinely cared about him. Thank you so much, words cannot express how grateful I am for every single person here. You guys are Godsends ❤️

Over the top caring & professional employees. Very communicative with all the procedures, medications and costs prior of doing anything. Follow up call of concern and recommendations. Extremely satisfied with Toby's care.

4 stars because the Veterinarian who saw my cat was outstanding and very professional.
I would like to see improvement at the front desk as far as customer service goes. I don’t think there should be the “supervisor” role at the front desk and usually indicates that the workplace internally is toxic.
Also, I’d like to see the leadership team (the person who sent me an email about donations) take a pay cut. I don’t agree with individuals making what they do working at non-profits (defeats the purpose of a non-profit) If you actually care about helping animals in need, you won’t actually care about achieving a leadership title and asking for donations from people who live paycheck to paycheck…
I felt that the donation request email was a defensive response to me giving feedback on their customer satisfaction survey saying that it’s hard to believe that this is a non-profit when they require you to give $1000.00 up front to receive additional funding through a hardship grant (a grant for people who have a hard time paying). They make you get denied two times for credit cards before they’ll consider you for this grant to prove need…it discriminates against people who are low income living paycheck to paycheck.
So to the president, ceo and directors at Angell MSPCA - I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR YOU!!! It’s time to surrender your unhealthy attachment to your salary and pay your front line employees more $$$ so you can actually retain them and stop asking low income adult customers for hand outs to pay your obnoxiously large salary. Advocate for better and stop blaming society for your poor leadership initiatives and flat out greed.

Our dog had/has an intestinal disorder and lost over a third of her weight. The other vet we were going to did not provide the care she needed, though the tried. Angell West we feel saved her life. They just have the level of experience and training to treat our dog I guess. She is still on prednisone and gained back most of her weight, she is a different dog in that there are lingering digestive problems, but Dr. Gorman and Angell West were/are great. 100% trust and respect. Thank you.

We had been failed by our primary vet at every turn and ended up bringing our dog to Angell to see their internal medicine team. Dr Ackely quickly diagnosed him and determined the tests she would need to run. She did all of the tests the next week and took the time to call me herself to explain what they saw and next steps. She spent over 20 minutes on the phone with me which I feel like is unheard of. The team there has been nothing but wonderful and I’m so thankful to them. Our dog has a rough road ahead but I feel comfortable knowing that he has an amazing vet in his corner.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I brought my dog in who had devoured two whole corn cobs. The check in was quick, the vet tech was so patient and kind. They took him back and immediately induced vomiting, got it all out. Did an x-ray to confirm. I didn't find the pricing to be all that outrageous, and the things they did for my dog were absolutely necessary. Bring your pet here during an emergency!

I got my kitty 2 weeks ago from a shelter. I brought her to Angell West for a general checkup, intro to a vet and because she had worms. They gave her all of the treatment she needed immediately including a booster shot that I didn’t even know she needed, and were thorough and informative during the entire process. They even (to her disliking!) clipped her nails. The day after we came home from the vet my kitty was acting stressed so I called them explaining her symptoms to make sure she is okay; they got back to me quickly and even called the following two days to ask how she was doing. I will be using Angell for our go-to vet now!

Best vet in Boston, especially when it comes to complex internal medicine emergency cases. I have a large dog with Addisons disease and a couple of other autoimmune issues. This team has taken us for emergency visits many times and I always feel 100% confident they will be able to help.

Hello, have been reading all those really bad reviews about this place so just want to share my personal experience with this place. I'm sure all those reviews are legit but still want to share. First time I've heard about it was from a friend of mine when one of my bearded dragons got a cut under his eye and it was bleeding, my usual vet place "Odd Pet Vet" didn't have any openings on that day so i came to Angell in Waltham. My lizard was seen in about half hour after i came in, i talked to a female vet who definitely seemed very, very knowledgeable on a subject (I have 7 bearded dragons for a very long time and i can definitely say when vets know what they are talking about and when they don't. They did a tremendous job with my beardie, took a great care of his eye, and the whole thing cost me 225 to bring my lizard and another 60 for meds, all together about 285 dollars which is super, super adequate for the service provided. I definitely didn't feel ripped off at all and walked away happy
Today I had one more appointment with an actual reptile specialist in that place cause one of my beardies had damaged nails, the ladies who took care of him were absolutely awesome, kind, compassionate, funny, they loved my beardie and he loved them too. So all i paid for this visit was 180 dollars which is a their fee to bring the lizard - and not a penny extra. So just to put it out there my personal experience so far was really good, they definitely didn't try to rob me or screw me and they rendered great services to two of my lizards for a very, very adequate price. Thank you

Apologies for the long review. This was the worst experience I have ever had, and I feel the whole story is needed to paint the picture here.
I truly feel if you love your pet, you should NEVER GO TO Angell West in Waltham, and should AVOID AT ALL
My dog needed an ultrasound immediately to confirm a major bowel obstruction. My vet called Angell to confirm they had an ultrasound tech in the office so he could send us there right away. The person confirmed there was an ultrasound tech in the office. We went there immediately.
I explained to the receptionist our vet called ahead for us for an ultrasound. She became very confrontational and told us it did not matter that our vet called ahead, and the techs may not be in the office anymore.
I should have just left after this conversation, but I wanted to get the ultrasound and get my girl better and fast.
They took her out back to check her over....About 30 minutes later a woman came back out with my pup and told us there were no ultrasound techs on staff until Sunday... It was Friday.. My dog would need to wait two days there for the imaging she needed. She would have died had I let Angell keep her.. The woman also acknowledged how dehydrated my dog was, yet they did NOTHING to get some fluids in her.
VCA in Weymouth was able to get the imaging she needed and the emergency surgery within an hour.
VCA SAVED MY DOGS LIFE.
ANGELL WEST DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Angell needs to remove the sign on their front entrance doors stating they are a "24/7 EMERGENCY Vet." They are not even close to this. They did absolutely nothing for my pet. They were uncaring, rude, and all around cold.
At the end of the day, let's be real, Angell is still a business. When I think of my experience from a business standpoint, Angell literally turned down a $13,000 client.
Truly appalled at the way my pet and I were treated and even more disgusted they call themselves a 24/7 EMERGENCY Vet.

Inexperienced exotic department. My bunny died here due to the exotic team's incompetence. Money hungry doctors prioritize profits over care. Worst vet experience.

We just tried to bring our dog here on an emergency and was turned away because we rushed in begging for immediate help. They said their COVID policy was being violated and to take our dog somewhere else - even as she was actively having a seizure.
We went to Blue Pearl and they immediately took her in and did a scan and let us know her spleen was bleeding. She needed immediate life sustaining care - which she got - somewhere else than Angell Memorial. We had bad experiences now with BOTH Boston and Angell West and will never go there again.

My first visit today for an urgent care appointment with my dog who has been having stomach issues all weekend. They got us in at incredibly short notice and their staff were all so friendly. Dr Natasha explained everything in great detail and got us set up with medications and a good plan. Everything fairly priced and no surprise costs at the end. The atmosphere is very calm, no loud barking or chaotic noises anywhere so the animals all feel comfortable and everything was very clean. I'll definitely be coming back and feel very relieved to have found this place.
