During the initial evaluation, no goal was set and there was no lesson plan. The therapy sessions were ad hoc and unhelpful. I was not told I would be in group sessions. I wasn't supervised during the exercises, and no feedback was given. When I asked questions, the answers were always vague and unhelpful.I chose this place because of the glowing reviews. Now I know.

I recently had physical therapy at Bay State PT in Waltham, I worked with two PTs - Jen and Kaylie. I would recommend both. Because of scheduling I spent the majority of my time with Jen who I credit for my recovery from knee replacement. Jen worked me hard, but because of that I got the results I wanted. She knows here stuff, and knows how to apply her skills to get results. I would recommend Bay State, and certainly either Jen or Kaylie.

My podiatrist surgeon told me to try pt before foot/ankle surgery which often has mixed results because maybe it would relieve the pain that was driving me to surgery and I could avoid it. I went to a lot of other pt places and asked Why should I come here? and none of them had an answer. Bay State said, We have a gym. So I signed up here. This place is great. Everyone is friendly. Everyone! The pt area is big, has high ceilings, big windows, is light and airy and clean. The equipment is up to date and well maintained. My therapist is Nick. He is great. He knows his stuff. The first session he gave me a bunch of basic exercises to strengthen the muscles that would help support my injured foot/ankle. I do them every other day at home and am working up to doing them every day. They seem to help with the pain and now I can walk more easily and for longer without pain. I also have balance issues because of my injury. Nick has given me a whole variety of exercises to help with my balance, some using no equipment and some using mats and weights that you can get online for hardly any money. I pick the exercises I find help me most and add them to my routine. I have gotten a spongy mat big enough to stand on with both feet and I do a lot of the exercises Nick has taught me on that. It is great for balance. Very challenging at first but I am working my way up to using it for most of my exercises. As you get older, balance becomes more and more challenging and bad balance can cause falls. I saw this with my mother. After a fall she began working on her balance and I don’t think she ever had a bad fall again. My father saw this and was converted and though he had bad knees, he developed good balance and with work on arm strength was able to use stairs for the rest of his life until he was 93. My mom used stairs until she was 99! Mainly because they both did exercises for balance everyday. So this is something good to develop as a habit at any age. Nick and Bay State have given me all the information and exercises I need to do this and I plan to keep doing what I learned here for life. This is a great place and I recommend it to anyone whose doctor tells them to try pt.

Everyone is so friendly and I do not feel uncomfortable or intimidated in any way. Jennifer is excellent!! Her knowledge and ability to incorporate numerous exercises mixes up the therapy sessions and it really doesn't feel like therapy. Top notch!

Excellent knowledge of the body and extreme care for the individual clients are what distinguish the physical therapists at Bay State Physical Therapy. I have had to go there for very separate and different orthopedic needs, and I have been totally pleased with specific plans made, and the care that I received in each instance.

Going to Bay State intermittently for a year. It is the best PT I've experienced. Lovely space, high end equipment, expert staff. Jessica was smart, warm, gently encouraging, expert in her field. She got me back up and safely moving. Just great! .

I didn't have the greatest experience here. They had good customer service but the exercises my pt had me do ended up making my back symptoms much worse. I switched to a different pt business because of this. They also see two patients at once so you don't get much personalized care.
