So first let me say that I'm the daughter of a mechanic so I grew up in garages and know the trade. I'm to this area, moved from eastern mass, and I am looking for a decent, honest mechanic for all our personal and work vehicles. My brother (retired mechanic) recommend I try Akin, so even though they told me that they were booking out almost 2 full months, i was willing to wait in hopes of securing a good mechanic.
I called Akin today to see if I could get my 2001 Honda CR-V in at some point to replace the struts. Yeah its an old car but its a work vehicle. I had already bought the 4 quick struts months ago because I had planned on doing them myself but I got busy (I own and operate a pavement maintenance company) and it got put on the back burner. I told them that I had the parts and yes, I understand that they can't warranty customer supplied parts, no problem. The woman on the phone said that he (the owner) likes to check the parts out and make sure they're quality before agreeing to install them. I told her that wasn't a problem, and that I had done my research to make sure i got the best ones, I don't cheap out on car parts. She said she'd talk to the owner and call me back. Less than a hour goes by and a different woman calls me back and says, "yeah, sorry, he's going to have to pass"....... I said " ooo-kayyy??? She says, "yeah, it's just not something that he's interested in working on at this time." I was so taken back by the arrogance of the statement that all I could utter was a sarcastic, "Awesome! Hey, thanks!" I've never had a mechanic tell me that they're "not interested" in working on a vehicle. I'm sorry that its an older car and not a Ferrari. Actually, jokes on them because they just lost the potential business on all our vehicles which include; a Mercedes SL600, a $80,000 Ford Explorer, Our F350 & Izusu NPR work trucks, two Honda personnel vehicles, and my brothers BMW and his other vehicles will no longer be serviced by Akin either. You may want to rethink your business practices if you're in the habit of snubbing your nose up at older vehicles. Wiser people will tell you, you never know who you're dealing with and what opportunities you're screwing yourself out of.
Bottom line: Don't judge a person by their Honda.

Mike has been servicing my vehicles since he opened his business. He's thorough, meticulous and honest. I wouldn't think of bringing my vehicle to anyone else. Mike and Carrie are the best!

This man is so talented that he told me exactly what was wrong with my vehicle (without looking at it)and because he was booking a month and a half out I was able to research his words and fix the problem myself for $4 in ten minutes. Thank you Sir. Your a inspiration to our community.

Mike, Carrie and the rest of the staff are top notch. Their service, communication and workmanship are second to none. They always take car of your car like it’s their own. They are honest, transparent, and prices are very reasonable. They take the time to explain what your car needs, why it is needed, and most importantly don’t try and upsell unnecessary products and services. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone - you are truly in good hands with Akin Auto

a month ago we purchased a totaled vehicle in baldwin for the drivetrain. We contacted almost every shop in baldwin and templeton and they all refused to remove the drivetrain for us (the fact that the car (c7 vette) was burned to the ground in a house fire did not help the situation either). Then we contacted mike at Akin's Automotive, after explaining the situation and what we needed mike took up the job. Within the same day the car was at his shop and he removed the drivetrain shortly after. Couldnt be more happy with the way it all turned out. Thank you again :D
